Farkle's pov
~
My heart broke when I saw Maya's face. I rushed outside, Lucas and Riley behind me.
"Maya what happened?" I said, horrified.
She looked at all of us and shuddered, but not from the cold. Her eyes were watery, and she looked exhausted.
"Maya." I spoke her name softly, like if I said it too loud she would shatter into a million pieces like a broken vase.
"Farkle I..." She was struggling to speak. I wrapped her in my arms and held her tight. She didn't push away.
"Shhhhhh. It's okay." I said. "Let's bring you home."
She looked up at me in terror.
"No...please don't take me home. I can't...I can't go back there."
"Why?"
"Because..."
Riley stepped forward.
"You can come to my place."
She shook her head.
"No...your parents, they'll ask too many questions."
Then Lucas stepped up.
"Riley, Farkle, you guys can go to school. Farkle you can't miss, you'll ruin your perfect attendance, and Riley, your father is your teacher. I'll take Maya to my place. My parents aren't home." He looked at Maya. "You won't have to answer any questions."
She nodded. I saw how grateful she was.
"Okay." Said Riley sounding a little uncertain wether or not she should leave her friend.
"Riley go. I'm...I'm okay." Said Maya.
Riley nodded.
"Okay let's go Farkle." I looked at Maya one last time and followed Riley.
