Maya's pov

~

I probably failed the quiz. School just wasn't for me. There was only one subject I enjoyed. Art.

Art class was the best. Our teacher, Mrs. Lawrence, was really sweet.

"Guys, try to get every feature of the face. The lips, the eyes, the nose, the cheeks."

She looked over at my copy.

"Wow Maya. You really do have a talent."

"Thanks Mrs Lawrence." I replied.

In art class, I always felt comfortable.

We all continued working quietly for the next 10 minutes before a man walked in the classroom. He looked like he was very important.

He said something to Mrs Lawrence. She nodded, and I could've sworn she looked sad. What did he tell her?

The bell rang. I grabbed my things and was about to ask mrs Lawrence about the man when Riley and Lucas came up to me.

"Is something wrong with Farkle?" She asked.

"Yeah. He seems...different."

I nodded.

"I know. It's weird. He got really pissed at me this morning. All I was doing was asking him for the quiz answers."

Riley have me a stern look.

"You're supposed to study Maya. It helps you know."

I laughed.

"You know me Riles. I don't study."

Lucas smiled.

"Yeah. Maya is too cool for studying."

I pretended to get on a horse.

"Yeeeee-HAWWWWW!"

Lucas starting imitating me. Well, he thought that's what he was doing.

"Oo I'm Maya. I don't study, cuz I'm such a badass. Hey you, IM SUCH A BOSS I CAN BEAT THE SHIT OUTTA YOU IF YOU SO MUCH AS TOUCH ME" He used a deep voice.

"Howdy there folks! Are y'all ready to square dance ya way to the ol' West for one of our famous pie eating contests? The winner gets a mighty fine horse! YEEEEE- HAWWWWW!" I made my voice higher, imitating the hard-core cowboy/western accent.

"I smell like the rats from the subway. But you won't even realize that. You'll be so distracted by my ugly New York accent!"

I punched him in the arm and laughed.

"I don't have a New York accent!"

"I don't really have a Texas accent."

"Touché."

He laughed and so did I.

Riley looked at both of us.

"You guys are weird." We all laughed.

When Riley and I walked in the first thing we saw was Cory covered in silly string.

"MORGAN!" he yelled.

A girl with dirty blond hair and piercing blue eyes came running down the stairs cracking up.

"Dude you look like Chewbacca." She laughed.

Riley ran towards her.

"Aunt Morgan!"

She hugged her.

"Hey Ri! I haven't seen you in so long!"

Riley turned and looked at her father.

"Dad...what happened?" She laughed.

He tried to glare at Morgan, but he burst out into laughing when she made a face.

"God Morgan. You got better at this."

She grinned.

"Ah well. I've been practicing."

I stood there, confused.

Riley's aunt Morgan noticed me.

"Hey Maya. Riley has told me so much about you."

"Nice to meet you." I said. She seemed really cool.

Topanga came down stairs.

"Morgan-"

She noticed Cory covered in silly string.

"What the hell-"

Morgan laughed.

"Your husband thought he could beat me in a game of "War." He thought wrong."

Topanga smiled.

Cory tried to take the string off.

"I don't get it. I was a pro at War. Remember Topanga? You, Shawn and I used to kick ass."

"We were 17." She said. "Now we're 35."

"Shit." Said Morgan. "You guys got old."

"Wait what's War?" I asked.

Topanga, Cory and Morgan all smiled.

"It's a prank game they used to play when they were younger. It was who could play the best prank." Replied Riley.

"Muuuuuch younger." Said Morgan. "Now your parents are freaking old Riley."

Cory shook his head.

"We are not old. Besides, I'm only 7 years older than you."

"Only."

Riley laughed and looked at me.

"Meet the Matthews family."
