Lucas's pov
~
I was such an idiot. I shouldn't have trusted Chuck. I shouldn't have went to his party and I shouldn't have gotten drunk.
I even convinced Riley to drink a bit, but she hadn't drunken enough to get full blown drunk, just enough to feel a little light headed.
All I really remembered from last night was getting arrested and kissing Maya. Those were the highs and lows of my night.
I knew that the kiss hadn't meant anything, not like the one back at my place, the one that had so much passion and desire. But we had spoken about our "relationship" and decided to stay friends. Not only for Riley, but for ourselves. We didn't want to ruin our friendship.
I felt like shit in the morning, and I felt so terrible for what I had done. I brought all my friends into this mess in the first place.
Tomorrow was school and I didn't think I could face Maya. She told me not to go to the party but I insisted. I thought everything was going to be fine. I've never been more wrong.

Today was Monday. School.
I saw her as soon as I walked in, her wavy long blond hair falling against her shoulders. When I saw her everything else in my field if vision blurred, and she was crystal clear, standing in the center of it.
"Maya."
She spun around. She looked annoyed.
"Hey. Guess who's back from her vacation? Missy Bitchford."
I laughed.
"Oh come on, she's not that bad."
"You're only saying that because she has a crush on you."
"No-"
Maya stepped in front of me.
"Listen cowboy, I know a crush when I see one."
"You know, just because I'm from Texas, it doesn't mean I'm a cowboy."
She smiled and tilted her head.
"How about....horse man?"
I laughed. I loved when she tried to get to me. She hasn't succeeded yet.
"I'm unaffected by your views on country life." I exaggerated my accent a bit to annoy her.
She grimaced.
"Ugh speak American please."
She grabbed her books and started walking down the hall, saluting me as she turned a corner.
