Lucas's pov

~

I wanted to ask her to the dance so badly. But I didn't want to complicate things. And I didn't think Maya liked me back. I was confused. Maybe I can just hang out with her there.

The bell rang and class began.

"Okay, so today we are going to learn about love. What love is, and what the consequences of love may be." said Mr.Matthews.

'I know you guys are young, but before you know it, you might be in love. Maybe you already are. When it comes to love, age doesn't matter. Now, I don't want you to think that your soulmate is in this very class. That's not at all what I'm saying."

Mr.Matthews walked around the classroom.

"Maya. Is love important?" he asked.

She nodded.

"No."

Mr.Matthews looked taken aback.

"Why?"

She looked deep in thought.

"Because. I never got love from my parents, and I turned out just fine."

Mr.Matthews looked at Maya. I could tell he felt bad for her. He wanted to give her a family.

"Maya-"

"Love is unrealistic. All those sappy cliche romantic movies raise everyone's hope, that one day, they'll find Mr.Perfect and live happily ever after,"

"And you don't believe that something like that could happen?" he asked her.

She shook her head.

"That's not how it works sir. Life is full of disapointements. Hoping for an eternal love, hoping to find a sweet romantic guy, hoping to have loving caring parents it's just unrealistic."

I wanted to hold her tight and never let her go. I wanted to be the guy that gave her the everlasting love she deserved.

I raised my hand.

"But there are guys like that. Guys that would do anything for the girl they love." I looked at Maya. She looked at me.

"Are there really?" asked Maya, not believing me.

Everyone else didn't matter. Only she did.

"Yes. There are." I replied.

We both looked into eachother's eyes for a few more secondes before she looked down at the ground.

Farkle raised his hand.

"Love is difficult. Honestly, I don't like love. Romeo killed himself for love. Nothing good can come from it."

I was shocked to hear that come from Farkle's mouth. He was one of the biggest flirts in the school.

Riley looked like she felt bad for Farkle.

"Farkle-"

He stood up and walked out of the class.

Missy came up to me after class.

She twirled her hair and giggled. I hated when she did that.

"So...Lucas. The dance. You and me." She smiled.

"Uhh..."

I glanced at Maya. She was wearing a shirt that made her beautiful blue eyes pop. Her long wavy blond hair fell agaisnt her shoulders. She was the prettiest girl I had ever met. And I wanted to go to the dance with her, and only her.

"Sorry Missy, there's someone else that I want to ask."

Her face changed from happy to jealous, and then switched back just as quickly.

"Oh no problem." She smiled once again, then walked away.
