Maya's pov
~
I walked into Mr.Matthews classroom with Riley by my side.
I sat down and sighed.
"School is so pointless." I muttered.
Mr.Matthews was writing something on the board when he turned around.
"Wuzzat?" He asked.
I looked at him. "I said school is pointless."
He laughed.
"Miss Hart, school is very important."
"Whatever you say."
Riley glared at me.
"Maya just listen okay?" She said.
I sighed and nodded. It was only the first day. There was plenty of time to disrupt Mr.Matthews's class later during the year.
So I listened to him babble on about the Civil War and about American history. I was bored out of my mind. I took my red notebook and began sketching.
One of the things I do when I'm in class is draw. Sometimes I feel like it's the only thin I'm good at.
Riley looked at me but didn't say anything. She sat next to me on my right. Behind me was Lucas, the cowboy, and Farkle sat diagonal from me, right behind Riley.
When I was talking to Lucas on the subway trying to get him and Riley to talk, he told me he was from Texas. He had a strange accent, but I don't get why Riley liked him. Sure, he wasn't ugly, but honestly, cowboys aren't my type.
"Miss Hart? Miss Hart?"
I looked up. Mr.Matthews was asking me a question.
"Uh yeah the Civil war." I said.
He sighed. "Miss Hart you need to listen in class."
He turned around and kept writing on the board. I groaned and said :
"Why?"
"Excuse me?"
"Why do I have to listen in class? It's not like I'm going to end up going to college or university. It's not like I'm going to become a doctor or something."
Mr.Matthews raised an eyebrow.
"And why do you say that?" He asked me.
"People tend to stay at the same level as their parents." I replied as the bell rang. I grabbed my books and walked out.
