I think chapter 34 showed up now. I'm not quite sure. Anyway, here is the next chapter.

Maya's pov

~

"Don't you think we should get back?" I asked. He smiled.

His smile. It always brightens my day. But today didn't need to get anymore bright.

We were both lying down, our shoulders touching, staring at the perfect blue sky. It was sunny, and I felt the warmth from the sun against my bare skin. I never felt this relaxed in my whole life.

"No. We really shouldn't." He reached for my hand.

I moved closer to him. I did the same.

"That cloud looks like a T-Rex." He said pointing.

"No way! That's looks like a bunny!"

He laughed.

"A bunny? Where do you get a bunny from a T-Rex?"

"That's totally a bunny."

"No way."

"Yes way."

He sat up.

"T-Rex." He looked at me, trying not to smile.

I sat up also, and did the same.

"Bunny."

We stared at each other for a few seconds. Neither of us broke the eye contact. Our T-Rex/Bunny debate silently turned into a staring contest.

"I'm the best at this game. I going to kick your ass."

He said.

"Wow! The cloud next to bunny looks like you!" I shouted enthusiastically.

"Really?" He quickly spun around at looked for the cloud that supposedly looked like him.

When he didn't find it, he laughed and ran towards me.

"You cheater!" He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.

"Put me down!" I laughed.

"Never!" He shouted.

"No one beats me in a staring contest by cheating and gets away with it!"

We both laughed and he gently put me down. I tripped him and he fell on top of me.

His face hovered above mine. He leaned in, and kissed me. He grabbed me and pulled me closer. My arms where on his soft, firm chest. I held onto the hem of his shirt, and deepened the kiss.

I rolled on top of him, and I felt him smile against my mouth. He pulled away, still holding onto me, as we lay side by side.

"I love you." He whispered.

"I love you too."

***

"Maya."

It was his voice again. But it sounded different. I sounded real. I felt myself being pulled back into reality, very slowly.

"Maya come back. We are all here, praying, hoping that you'll come back. We all love you."

There it was again. That word. The same word he said before. Only this time, it felt less like a dream. More like reality.

I heard the sound of someone crying.

"I can't...I can't be without you. I need you in my life. The world seems so much brighter with you in it. Please Maya, please. I...I want to be with you."

I wanted to be with him too. Without to second thought I headed towards his voice.

I felt myself being pulled, pulled towards his voice. Before I had time to think about Riley or Mr Matthews or my parents, a bright white light swallowed me up, and I gasped for air.

The first thing I saw was his face. His bloodshot eyes, his soft lips, and his perfect nose. He had been crying. He had been crying for me.

"Maya." He whispered.

I smiled.

"Lucas."

He saved me. He saved the girl that couldn't be saved. The broken, damaged girl.

He was one hell of a cowboy.
