originally xue didn't want to go to the infirmary but she thought it was best if she applied some cream on her arms.
the nurse wasn't in the infirmary so she had to apply the cream on her arms on her own. thank god she took the home nursing and basic first aid test back then.
at least she knew what cream is for what.
the cream was on the shelf and she was having a hard time reaching for it. she decided to use the stool and when she was about to climb up, someone spoke.
"need help?" she turned around to see lee jeno standing a few feet from her. "oh yes. can you please help me get that yellow cream?"
"sure." he said and reached for it easily. "how did you know i was here?" xue asked.
"oh i was on my way to the toilet and saw you walking in." xue only nodded as her response. she sat on the bench and applied the cream on her arms.
it wasn't as red as earlier but it still made jeno questioned about it. "what happened to your arms?"
"i don't know honestly. i got it during the test just now it stung really bad." she explained. "do you need anything else?" jeno asked.
that was when she saw his palms. the history answers. although he rubbed it off, the traces were still there.
everything started to make sense to her. they cheated in the test earlier. renjun and donghyuck probably had the answers on their palms and arms too.
she was pretty sure jaemin and jeno had it on their arms too. they were wearing a blazer so it made it possible to hide the writings.
but how come it was on her arms and palms too?
she had so many questions in her head but she decided to ignore them and treat her hand first. "do you need help with applying the cream?"
"it's ok i can manage. thank you. by the way, i think you should get back to class. you'd be in trouble if a teacher finds you here."
"what's the deal? i can just say that i'm your friend and i'm here to help you." he answered bluntly.
well here's the thing. jeno and xue barely knew each other and she doesn't recall talking to him before.
she was pretty sure she never talked to jaemin and donghyuck either.
"if you say so.." xue trailed. she let out a small yelp when the yellow cream touched her skin. "i'll do it." jeno said and took the cream away from her hand.
he scooted closer to her and started to apply the cream on her arms. "you don't have to do this really."
but lee jeno is stubborn so he insisted on doing it for her. it was so weird because they just started talking earlier and the next thing she knew he was helping her to treat her arms.
"does it hurt that much?"
"yeah. it's still stinging."
"you know you could have just informed the teacher and go home right? it's better that way plus you get to revise for physics test tomorrow," he stated.
"well.. 2 more hours till school ends. i think i can manage till then." jeno was almost done with applying the cream on her arms. she didn't realise jeno tried to distract her from the pain by talking to her.
"and done." jeno said, smiling to himself, proud that he helped her. "thank you so much jeno." she thanked him sincerely. that was probably the first time she had ever said jeno's name out loud.
"you're welcome. now let's get you back to your class." he smiled showing off his famous eyes smile. "jeno i can walk to my class on my own. it's not like i sprained my-"
"let's go!" he cut off her words and dragged her out of the infirmary. she never thought he would be this stubborn.
they reached her class and she thanked him again. they bid goodbyes and she went in the class. her subject teacher had not even entered the class yet.
she was still thinking of the writings on her arms and palms. if the boys were to cheat during the exam it's their business but how come the answers appeared on her arms as well.
at first, she thought jaemin was the only culprit but now that she saw jeno's palms, she can't help but to suspect the other two too.
"deep in thoughts, i see. thinking about your boyfriend aye?"
she turned to her right and saw sunwoo raising his eyebrows at her. "xue has a boyfriend?" hyunjoon asked, shocked.
"yeah she does. a nonexistent boyfriend though." sunwoo answered hyunjoon's question. hyunjoon snickered at his answer. "shut up sunwoo." xue groaned.
sunwoo would usually tease her a lot and she would usually laugh it off and play along with his jokes but she was not having it that day.
sunwoo decided that it was best if he shut up. the girl was probably on her red days...
