Similes and metaphors
my angel of no seeming consequence,
not such an angel anymore
can't break your terrible silence,
this masquerade you attend
but never seem to escape,
words a farce of forgiveness
when deep down never erased.Pins and needles
I grew accustomed to walking on,
My voice void and null
so many things you're harping on,
Frown lines and timelines
numbers your strange comfort,
swearing that "you're fine"
never talking simply cuz you're hurt. When you glance in the mirror
you hide from your own reflection,
denial that you're sick
so you ignore this infection,
avoiding my words like a scalpel
because you need no dissection,
yet your watch is always set early
for time to point in my direction.
I only want to talk this out
to make things work and bring honesty,
but your refuse to dig any deeper
afraid of any true intimacy.A dark, icy stare
your mouth under lock and key,
a cold, piercing glare
directs the blame at me,
get over yourself
your pretense is doing no one a favor,
not needing help
you view yourself the savior,
picture perfect
your worth in smiles and white picket fences,
deep down, you're derelict
ignoring your consequences.I miss who I thought you were
before I realized you were only a dream,
now I'm awake in this nightmare
the good I dreamed you will never be,
like a fool I believed your sweet lies
and put you on a pedestal oh-so high,
now off your kick of dopamine
you crashed and left me high and dry.Lost and wandering
sifting through ashes of my remains,
never knowing, pondering
this somber dirge in refrain,
moving this along,
clinging to hopes of better tomorrows
singing a new song,
finding truth to drown these sorrows. So now even though there's a shape
in my heart where you once used to be,
I still have One that's better than you ever were
who fills this void completely,
through tears, fears and sleepless nights
this charade surely did cost,
I'm better than you ever gave credit for
so in the end its your loss.
