I know I can do some stupid things
being my own selfish self
but something about how you reprimand me
makes me wanna put my pride on the shelf
I know I'll say some stupid things
my mouth runs away from my mind
and when I see that hurt look on your face
will make me work harder to speak kind.
and as life's trials surely will test us
I'm determined to be the best for us
and even if we don't agree
I'll learn to be the man that I need to be
if nothing else in my life I do well
I know that choosing you is my one good tale
if a darkness were to swallow my life
you'd be my everlasting light.
I can't contemplate forever
my mind just can't understand it
but if that's the time I have with you
my heart can't wait to demand it
when life starts to get to me
if something seems to get me blue
your eyes reach into my soul
all I have to do is look at you.
and as time will fade away
my hands get wrinkled and my hair turns gray
so much in my life will change
but my love for you will never age
if all else goes away
I know I've still got you at the end of the day
if a darkness were to swallow your life
I'll follow you into the night.
