----------- Chapter 11 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Deidre?"

"De?!"

The voices get closer and closer. So, reluctantly, Draco and I pull apart from our embrace.

"Damn your annoying, clingy friends!" Draco jokes, lifting me off the rock and places me on my feet. He then takes my hand and pulls me along. I gladly follow him.

We walk for a long while, before finally re-emerging in Hogsmeade. The clouds overhead look angry and dark, just waiting to drench us in rain.

As I'm still clinging onto Draco's arm, Harry and Ron break through the forest too.

If I didn't know Harry was so angry, I would have found his expression comical. Harry has his mouth hanging open in disbelief, and all the colour has drained from his face.

I know in an instant that Draco is having a field day.

"Let go of her hand, Malfoy!" Ron spits, the first to regain his wits.

Hermione and Ginny come running towards us, as Draco takes a haughty step forward, his chin raised arrogantly.

"Or what, Weasel?" Draco murmurs, cocking his head.

"Or...or...I'll hex you!" Ron announces.

"No! No, you won't!" I shout, my voice shaking in anger.

Ron shrinks back slightly, and Draco looks back at me, a little awed.

"De-" Ron begins before I cut him off.

"I don't care! I really don't care whether you like him or not! All that matters is what I think, okay? You understand?" I ask sharply.

Ron nods mutely.

And just as I'm about to storm off, Harry's soft voice calls out, "How could you?" he asks simply.

"How could I what?!" I explode! I can't take this crap anymore.

"Deid," Draco whispers.

"Silencio!" Harry shouts, his wand aimed at Draco. Draco's face pails, and he stares daggers at Harry. He whips out his own wand very discreetly, I doubt Harry even noticed.

"De?! How could you?!" Harry continues having thus silenced Draco. I feel my body convulse in a surge of pure hate. I whip my own wand out and point it at my cousin, my hand shaking in my anger.

"Expelliarmus," Hermione whispers and my wand goes flying out of my hand.

"You! You allow him to do that to Draco?! But I'm not allowed to retaliate?!" I scream at her. I feel so betrayed.

"Deidre! I...didn't have time to stop Harry," she admits, looking upset.

"He is the reason Dumbledore is dead!" Harry continues, as if I never pulled my wand out at him.

"No he isn't!" I scream, my voice breaking. I feel the tears welling up in my eyes.

"Oh? So you see Dumbledore alive, do you?" Harry asks scathingly.

"I love him, okay?! Can't you people get it?" I ask, whispering, feeling utterly exhausted.

"He doesn't know what love is!" Harry explodes!

"He knows more than you!" I accuse.

"How dare you?!" this time Ginny comes to Harry's rescue, her wand raised, pointing at me.

Draco hand is then on my shoulder, holding me in place. He stands in front of Ginny, looking down at her, his wand still out.

Ginny scoffs at him, "What are you going to do? Poke me with the stick, Malfoy?" she asks bitchily. Draco sneers, and before I know it, a bright blue shoots out the tip of his wand, and Ginny and Harry get knocked backward.

Draco grabs my arm and pulls me with him. I hear cussing coming from them, but Draco doesn't let me turn back. We keep walking, then Draco suddenly pulls me into a little alley. He keeps a hand on my mouth, looking around alertly.

Ginny comes running past, her face almost the same shade as her fiery hair. Harry is a couple of steps behind her.

Once they've completely gone the wrong way, Draco releases me. He wraps his arms around my shaking frame and pulls me into his warm embrace.

"If it makes you feel any better, I love you too," he whispers back, his voice a little hoarse.

"Draco! I'm so sorry! I don't know what their deal is!" I mumble against his chest. Draco just rubs soothing circles into my back, holding me tight.

"I'm sorry...I didn't want you to lose all of your friends...not like that," he murmurs, regret thick in his voice.

I smile into his chest. It sucks that all my friends hate me...but at least I still have Draco. And something tells me it'll take a lot to get rid of him.

"Come on, squirt," he grins, taking my hand again.

"Draco? How did you...I mean...you couldn't speak...how did you do that?" I ask.

He grins his breathtaking grin, turning towards me, "I've been practicing non-verbal spells," he explains, leading me back to the castle. While we're walking, the rain begins.

Draco shrugs out of his jacket and puts it on me instead. But by the time we reach the castle, the both of us are soaked through and through.

Once we get into the main hall, Draco shakes his hair out like a wet puppy, wetting a couple of the other students who shriek at the water. Draco just keeps grinning, his eyes fixed on me.

"Go, have a shower and change before you fall sick," Draco commands, and winks at me.

I run up the stairs and up to the Gryffindor common room. Harry, Ron and Ginny are sitting huddled up together in a corner. The moment I walk through the door all three heads turn to look at me. I feel myself colour a little and I just run off to the girls dorms. I grab my clothes, head to the showers and have a nice long shower.

Once I'm done, I walk back to the common room, and walk up to my cousin.

"Harry...I'm sorry for what Draco did...but you have to try to be nice too," I murmur.

"Don't tell him what to do! Your...ferret used a hex on him!" Ginny mutters, standing up, her face flushed.

"Oh, and your boyfriend was completely innocent? Harry hexed Draco first! And Draco only used a shield charm, okay? And it was only because YOU were pointing that bloody wand of yours at me!" I whisper back.

Despite the whisper, everyone in the common room turns to watch us. Ron steps in between Ginny and I before anything else can happen. He calms his sister down before turning on me, "You need to get your loyalties straight!"

"Loyalties?! Come on! I really like Draco, okay? I can't help who he is! He's the sweetest person I know, and he really cares about me," I try to explain.

"Look, I don't care," Ron murmurs, turning his back on me, "Just don't sit with us during dinner tonight, okay?"

I nod, tears once again welling in my eyes. I walk calmly out of the common room. There's only one place I'd rather be.

"Deidre!"

"De! Wait!"

I hear Harry calling me, but by know my vision is blurred. I continue walking down the long, empty corridor.

I just need to get away from all the hypocrites!
