------------ Chapter 28 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I’m sorry! I told him he was wrong!” Hermione whispers after a long, uncomfortable silence.
“Harry...I’m not pregnant!” I answer clearly, making sure to emphasise each word.
“Then why would you even consider dropping out of school?” he asks, a little bewildered.
“Because I want to be with Draco,” I answer simply. I mean really...doesn’t anyone understand?!
“Because of that?! I would never make Ginny drop out of school so we could be together!” he declares primly, throwing a disgusted look at Draco.
“I never asked her to drop out of school! And I’m the one trying to convince her to stay in school!” Draco spits, his cheeks blazing in indignation.
“Okay guys...how about we leave Deidre and Draco alone?” Hermione suggests loudly just as Harry opens his mouth to retort.
It takes both Ron and Hermione to lead Harry away, and even then he throws Draco a withering look as he leaves.
“Where were we?” Draco asks huskily, smirking.
And despite being mad at him and not completely forgiving him, I couldn’t help but shudder in anticipation.
“I was mad at you,” I remind him after a moment.
“Yeah, you were. Why again?” he asks sweetly, his eyes focusing on my lips.
“Because you...you...” and while I struggle to express my anger in words, Draco gently caresses my neck, sending chills down my body.
“Not fair!” I mumble sulkily all the while enjoying the nuzzling.
“I haven’t a clue what you mean,” Draco whispers, his lips against my cheek.
“Yes, you do! All this...contact...it’s driving me crazy!” I murmur, pretending to be outraged.
“If you’d prefer, I could not touch you again. But we both know what happens in the end, don’t we?” he continues coyly.
“Draco...we have to talk this out,” I plead quietly. I’m actually quite the hypocrite, I mean, here I am telling him to stop when God knows I wish he would hold me like this forever!
“Talk,” he whispers against my neck, making me shudder again, “is cheap,” he finishes, his lips trailing kisses up my neck.
“Draco!” I warn weakly.
Completely ignoring me, to my intense relief, his lips gently brush against mine. The next thing I know, I have my hands grabbing onto his fine, blonde hair and he has his arms locked around my waist.
He kisses me deeply and I just keep pulling myself closer and closer towards him. The intensity of our kisses actually do hurt. I can feel my lips bruising in their earnestness to lock onto his lips.
Eventually the both of us pull apart, breathing heavily. I don’t need a mirror to know my lips are most probably a deep red by now. Heck, even Draco’s lips are red. He grins at me easily, still breathing a little heavy.
“Now do you believe that I love you?” he asks, taking my hands in his.
“I...do-” I whisper before he cuts me off.
“No buts,” he warns, as if he could read my mind. “I do love you! And I would love nothing more than to be with you. After you graduate though,” he adds, bringing my hands up to his lips.
He kisses both my hands and then looks deeply into my eyes.
“I understand,” I whisper, deciding he wouldn’t budge either way.
“So...no more fighting?” he asks guardedly.
“I guess not,” I tease, kissing him lightly along his jaw line.
“Good. I knew I was way too cute to fight with...happens all the time,” he continues, cocking his head in arrogance.
I swat him playfully and he shoots me a huge grin before swinging his arm around my shoulders. “I’m glad we made up, Deid. Merlin...I don’t know how I would have gone through my NEWTs if we hadn’t,” he confesses as we walk down the stairs towards the Great Hall for breakfast.
“Now, all we have to worry about is your cousin and his horrid assumption skills,” Draco murmurs once we’re almost to the Great Hall.
I glance up, and sure enough, Harry, Ron and Hermione are striding purposefully towards us. Great. Drama, drama, drama...
