---------- Epilogue (16 Years Later) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first of September already! Where’s the time gone?
“Are you alright?” Draco murmurs, squeezing my hand gently.
I smile up at my handsome husband and nod my head. We’re in King’s Cross. It’s Scorpius’ turn to attend Hogwarts. He’s nervous, but extremely excited.
“Please don’t worry,” Draco whispers to me softly so the kids wouldn’t be able to hear us.
“I am worried. Selene isn’t taking it well,” I mumble.
When Selene was about to turn 11, it had become a ritual for all four of us to eagerly await her owl from Hogwarts. But the 28th of February came and passed, Selene turned 11 and still there was no sign of a letter.
Naturally, Draco and I were stunned. Later we discovered that Selene was a squib. The next two years were difficult. Selene had her confidence crushed and she morphed into a completely different person. But she eventually got better. She began accepting that she was in fact a squib.
Two weeks ago, when Scorpius received his owl...the disappointment set in once again. Selene’s a strong girl, very much like Draco in that way. She’s trying her hardest not to dampen her brother’s enthusiasm.
“I don’t see the platform!” Scorpius murmurs anxiously, tugging at Draco’s sleeve.
“Relax. We’re not too late,” Draco soothes, ruffling Scorpius’ hair.
I take Selene’s hand and lead the way to the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. The moment we step through, the familiar Hogwarts Express awaits. Scorpius steps through next, his eyes wide with wonder. I can’t help but grin at him.
I give Selene’s hand a light squeeze and she squeezes back, smiling slightly at me. “I’m fine, mum,” she murmurs sadly.
Draco steps through the barrier with Scorpius’ things in a trolley. Across the platform, I see Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione.
Things have been strained between them and Draco lately. Harry is an auror in the Ministry and Draco is deputy Minister for Magic. They got into a disagreement. Draco was ordered to do some stuff...the bottom line is things have been kind of rough.
“I’m going to talk to them,” I inform Draco.
He frowns slightly but nods his head. I give Scorpius a hug goodbye and promise to write to him every day. Selene sticks to Draco’s side and helps him get Scorpius’ things onto the train as I head across the platform.
“Hi,” I whisper, stopping a couple of feet from my friends and Ginny.
Hermione grins and gives me a huge hug. Ginny ignores me and both Ron and Harry give me a peck on the cheek. Well obviously their problem isn’t with me.
“It’s pretty crazy that all of us have kids going into the first year, huh?” I murmur conversationally.
“It is!” Hermione agrees, smiling bright.
“I do hope they get along,” I continue.
“Your son is almost exactly the splitting image of Draco. If his attitude is the same as Draco’s in his first year, I don’t think they will,” Ginny mutters.
