The worst at goodbyes

I sit at the table in my hotel room... took my phone and called my mother first because I knew her position could help me more to obtain what I wanted
"Hi mom, how are you?" I said as she picks up trying to seem happy
"Hi sweetie I'm good, how are you?" She asked but her voice sounded a little bit sleepy
"I'm good, you know I met my old university colleagues today? We had a coffee before their lessons, I just got a little nostalgic" I said leaving her the interpretation of those words.
"I understand... You want to go back there, don't you?"
"I'd love to, I think I can have my scholarship back if I work hard and while I don't have it I can stay at granny's... You know I visited her yesterday and it seemed to me she needed a little company" I said as I knew she had always been concerned about my grandparents living alone in this big big city knowing she couldn't reach them in time in case something happened.
"I'll talk to your father, he deserves a voice in this too" she said lately but I had convinced her anyway, I was halfway through the process.
"Call me when you do because if we get a decision I won't take the plane I don't want to lose time, right?"
"Yeah... I'll let you know" she said and hung up.
We had never had economic issues as my parents both had good jobs but university fees in New York were crazily high, but gaining back the scholarship everything would have been easier.
I already knew what the answer would have been but I didn't want to be too happy before being certain and mostly I didn't want to give Sarah false hopes so I cautiously waited for the final response which came after a few hours that I swear they seemed like days to me. That hours I had passed on the phone switching from the university's secretary, to my grandma, then again to the secretary and so on I was so exhausted.
"Mom" I said don't even letting my phone ring more than once
"I'll be short I gotta work. Me and your father know how much you liked to study there and all the good friends you had made and we also know you don't feel comfortable in studying here and you haven't made many friends... so we thought the best decision for you is to be where you are happy and hopefully where you can live your life taking advantage of every minute because you deserve it. So the answer is yes" She finally said.
Silent tears were streaming down my face, it was like life was smiling at me in that moment, like it was going to give me the happiness I was craving for.
"Sylvia, are you still there?" She asked and took me back to the present.
"Yes I heard I just couldn't believe it. Thank you!"
"You know we would do everything to make you and your brother happy, don't you?" She said.
"I know you are the best parents in the world I love you so much" I said in ecstasy.
"We love you too baby, now really I got to go, talk to you soon love" she said and I didn't even have the time to say goodbye she had already hung up.
I checked the time and see it was almost the time for me to go to airport and sarah was probably on her way to get me so I thought: why not play a little bit?
I jumped off the chair and got my suitcase ready to go and as I had already planned a few minutes later she send me a message: "I'm down here in the car if you're still going"
Here we go on stage!
"'Coming" I shortly typed back and in a few minutes I was in the car with her.
The look in her eyes made me want to kiss her and tell her everything I did just to be with her but I forced myself not to do it because I wanted to surprise her.
There were many possibilities she was probably going to hit me when I would have told her the truth but I was sure she would have been so happy. I couldn't wait to tell her but to do that I had to play it like I wanted to win an Oscar.
She had been driving without saying a single word for like twenty minutes now and I couldn't take this anymore, tension was to the highest levels.
"Sarah... please don't be mad at me... What else could I do?" I said trying to touch her but she avoided my touch and in that moment I knew she was mad as hell.
"It seems to me you didn't do anything, actually, just picked up your things and left" she said harshly but I saw her eyes starting to fill with tears even though she wasn't looking at me.
"I tried, trust me, I examined all the possibilities but not a single one of them was viable" I explained to her almost crying but I wasn't acting I would have felt really sick if it all had been real.
"Maybe it had to go like this..." she said and suddenly bursted into tears.
I swear to God I'm going to end this fast...
"You can go now" she said stopping the car in front of the entrance of the airport
"What.. So it goes like this? Will you please just come inside for a minute so that I can hug you and tell you goodbye.." I asked her trying to hold her hand.
"I can't, please don't make me do this, I am the worst at goodbyes" she said desperately crying with her head on the steer.
"Please just come out of the car then" I said opening her door without leaving her choice.
I hugged her tight, as tight as I could, at first she was stone cold but after a few seconds she hugged me too with her hands between my hair.
As soon as she calmed down i whispered in her ear "What would you have done if I had stayed?"
She moved a little bit to look at me in the eye without breaking our hug "I would have kissed you until my lips started to bleed..."
"You better do it then because I'm not going anywhere!" I told her "Am I a good actress or not?"
She was looking at me like I was some extraterrestrial entity so I gave her few seconds to process all that.
"What are you talking about? How could you do this to me? And how could I be such a fool?" She said with her eyes wide open and then she beat me a few times on my arm.
"Hey stop it now..." I said rubbing my arm "I think it's time for me to get my 'until lips bleed' kiss " I joked
"You stupid asshole.." she said even though she couldn't help but smile pulling me towards her until our lips collided and it was the best, most passionate kiss she ever gave me.
"First of many so?" I asked her softly placing little kisses on her lips.
"First of many" she whispered to my lips with her eyes closed.
"Get back in the car now we have to go home, you had your little pointless trip to airport" she teased me.
"But tell me was I a good actress then?"
"Even better than me I would say" She said speeding up to the highway.
Our way back to the city was way better than the previous one, we laughed, dreamt about our new life together in New York and I told her about all I had to do to register again in my old university.
"Are you staying at my place tonight?" She asked with the cutest face.
"I'll better have a good excuse for my grandma" I said trying to think about what to say.
"I gave you a perfect one, we study at the same university, we are friends so you can say I'm hosting you at my place... With my beloved husband if you want to add more details" she said laughing out loud.
"Ew, you're private property from now on" I warned her joking
"Uh, we'll see" She said winking at me as she entered the parking lot at her place.
"So I'll better call her now" I said so I typed in her number as Sarah was waiting for me in the car.
"Honey where are you?" She answered to the phone
"I am at Sarah's house, I'm staying here for tonight because she arranged to have dinner and drink something with the guys from university you know just like a 'welcome back' night" I explained her my plans.
"Oh honey I am so happy you're having fun with your friends, I'll wait for you tomorrow then"
"Yes, granny have a goodnight and kiss grandpa too for me"
"Goodnight honey"
She hangs up and we are finally alone. Sarah helped me carrying my suitcase to her apartment and as I entered the door I saw it was pretty minimal, few colors, but her real personality comes out with paintings on the walls... I turned my back to see what was left behind me and here I saw it, my painting, hung on the wall upon a giant tv and in front of a sofa that looked so comfortable I wanted to try it.
"Surpise" she said "I wanted to make you see I really liked it and that I want to support you in every way I can"
"Wow, it looks like this was its place right from the beginning... Or at least I like to think like that" I said and couldn't help but staring at it until I felt Sarah hugging me from behind resting her chin on my shoulder as if our bodies fitted each other perfectly and I felt some sense of warmth, peace and safeness.
"Yes it really looks perfect, that's why I wanted it to be visible so that everyone who sees it knows how lucky I am" and she said kissing my cheek.
This was our new beginning, I did not know how it would have gone, but it was clear that I loved her so I kissed her as I should have done the first time I had had the opportunity in my hotel room, she seemed surprised but happy as she pulled me closer to her with her hands on my hips while I slowly stroked her face and her hair.
I paused for a little while to let her breath and she pushed me gently making me sit on the couch straddling me "You made me the happiest person in the world today" she whispered closer to my lips.
"I'll try to make you the happiest person in the world everyday from now on" I said cupping her head and kissing her harder than before then moving my hands all over her body to her hips causing her to shiver and sigh in pleasure.
"I love it when you do that" I tell her biting my lips.
"I love it when you make me do that" she teased me.
I couldn't wait a minute more so I had her spread out on the sofa putting myself on top of her kissing her but then our lips parted "Wait wait" she said getting up.
"Are you okay?" I asked pretty worried.
"Of course, come with me and close your eyes" she said "I am gonna constantly check if they're closed so do not cheat please" she said guiding me through her house.
"I'm not cheating!" I reassured her.
"You may open your eyes now" she said and I did as she had told me.
I saw her sitting on her bed but it was all covered by rose petals of an intense red and all around us there were candles of any size and intensity, it looked like the stars of the sky were now on our floor so bright I could clearly see.
"I... don't know what to say... this is beautiful. None ever did such things for me... you make me feel special, thank you Sarah" I said but I was overwhelmed by emotions and all the love I felt for her was immense and inexplicable.
I was just standing in the middle of the room so entranced that I didn't know what to do until she extended her arm to pull me closer to her.
"This is my second and last surprise for tonight" she said so close to my lips she touched them with hers at every world she spoke "and I did it because I love you Sylvia" she said at the end. Just by hearing those magical three words I felt like I was born again and I loved her too like I had never loved anyone before and just the thought that we could have never met made me savor even more deeply that moment of infinite joy.
"I love you too Sarah, you are my everything" I said kissing and making her comfortably lie on her bed touching her with my hands all over her body causing her to shiver and breathe heavily making me fall crazily in love with her.
"You know this is my first time with a woman..." I said with my cheeks burning to red.
"So it has to be a special time, uhm?" She said moving upwards and turning both of us over so that she was on top of me and I was laying on my back.
"It would have been special anyway because it was with you" I said hardly kissing her, our tongues dancing together in a fiery passion.
As we were kissing I felt her hand under my shirt making her way to my breast which caused me to moan quietly under her touch and I noticed how much she was trying to contain herself, she knew I was shy, even though since she tightened my breasts it made me understand she wanted to rip my clothes off so I took the first move and grabbed handfuls of her shirt to take it off, so that she did the same with mine a few seconds after and then took off my jeans too.

"Sarah?" I called for her in a sleepy voice.
"I'm here! I'm coming honey" I heard her lovely voice saying.
"Good morning you little sleeping beauty" she said while crawling back under the covers to hug me
"Good morning love..." I quietly said feeling so safe to be back between her arms I could've fallen asleep again but then I remembered it was Monday and I immediately stood up on the bed.
"Oh my God what time is it?!" I asked her.
"Like 9.30 am, why?" She answers and I figure out I had like 20 minutes until the class started so I dashed out of bed running to the bathroom
"I had to go to class!" I answer her back.
She was now leaning at the bathroom door so beautiful in her elegant white dressing gown finely edged in black looking at me while I was compulsively brushing my teeth with one hand while I tried to fix my hair which was a complete mess at the moment.
"I'm sorry I didn't know you already had to go to class today" she said looking sad.
"It's not your fault I forgot to set the alarm" I told her when I finished brushing my teeth and I kissed her quickly before running back to her bedroom to dress up. I was frantically running around to get all my stuff ready and when the last shoelace was tied I put the folder on my shoulder and went to kiss her goodbye.
She kissed me gently grabbing my shirt and I didn't want to end it but I had to.
"So I'll call you when class ends?" I asked her.
"It would be great" she said smiling at me happily.
"Ok I've got to go now" I said opening the door.
"I love you Sylvia, have a good day" she said leaning at the front door with a cup of tea between her hands.
"I love you too, Sarah" I told her right before she closed the door.
