Day: 101
World Parkinson's Disease Day
By iambeyondbrave

Today is World Parkinson's Disease day. We raise social awareness about Parkinson's Disease so people are able to be informed. World Parkinson's Disease day marks the birthday of Dr. J Parkinson. Dr. Parkinson first described the disease in “An Essay On Shaking The Palsy”. One way awareness was brought to disease is through Marathons in the city from countries all over the world.

Parkinson's is a disease which nerve cells that deliver the neurotransmitter dopamine to other cells are reduced in numbers.

Parkinson's normally affects the elderly (50-60 years old). Symptoms include tremors, slowed movement, rigid muscles, impaired posture and balance, loss of automatic movements, speech changes and writing changes. Since the cause of Parkinson's Disease is unknown so is prevention. Drinking tea or doing yoga/aerobic exercises could reduce the risk of Parkinson's Disease.
