Day: 161
Ice Tea Day
By KikithefoxYou wipe the sweat off your face. Clear blue skies with bright sunlight burning on your skin. You desparately search around for a sense of coolness to help ease the burning beads of sweat on your forehead. Then you see, shining as if the sun's rays casted a heavenly spotlight on it, a tall glass with tear shaped drops covering it. You grab the glass and quickly gulp down the contents before sighing with relief.
Ice Tea was already documented to be created in the 1870s but they didn't rise up into popularity until 1904.
Richard Blechynden decided to serve ice tea at The World's fair in St. Louis and thus, ice tea's popularity exploded. This sweet treat helped cool down their customers and made specially made utensils were made just for the tea!
Many started sharing this drink with others all around the world and now it's a commonly made beverage on a hot summer's day.
What are you waiting for? Go get some ice tea and enjoy yourself!
