My full time job.

DO YOU KNOW

HOW HARD IT IS

TO BE A STAN ACCOUNT?

Think about it, the one person in the world that you idolize the most, whether they're an actress or a singer or a group or whatever you know.

I myself started being a stan when I was in seventh grade, my very first fandom. That was

wait for it

the Potterheads.

NOW, you see, social media had not fully blossomed yet, we were in that weird transition from myspace to facebook, and just around the year that Facebook was something EVERYONE HAD TO HAVE.

After my love for harry potter died down, I became a One Direction fan.

No im not ashamed.

Yes I still love them.

Yes they're def coming back.

No you shouldn't argue with me on this.

It was 2013, I got a twitter and an instagram, I was exiting eighth grade and beginning on my hell binding journey called high school. SO you can bet that as soon as I made an instagram I followed a whole ton of fan accounts and mains of course.

I NEEDED ALL THE UPDATES.

BUT

I STILL DIDN'T HAVE A FAN ACCOUNT

now ladies. dont be reading this and thinking "ewwww you liked one direction?? gross they're a boyband".

BITCH

YOU'RE LYING TO YOURSELF IF YOU NEVER DREAMED OF HARRY STYLES MAKING OUT WITH YOU OKAY

you can't just avoid one direction, not in that era sweetheart.

This is when it all began.

for the next three years i didn't see the walls of my bedroom because they were literally COVERED in a BLANKET of one direction posters. I had all the tour merch, I had the harry styles doll, I had the movie, i had life size cutouts.

when my family went to europe, we visited the bakery harry used to work at

I STILL HAVE THE WRAPPER FROM MY MUFFIN.

BUT.

EVERYTHING CHANGED WHEN I TURNED 14.

A NEW BAND CAME UP FROM THE PITS OF HELL AND DRAGGED ME DOWN UNDER AND HAS YET TO RELEASE THEIR HOLD ON ME.

its five seconds of summer

HOT DAMN ASHTON IRWIN.

I have been tweeting and posting on three different stan accounts for years.

(with a little break in between where i liked nobody because 5sos went on a hiatus.)

I am 20 now.

I still have all of my active stan accounts and I tweet at 5sos and post about them just about daily, to tell them how much I appreciate them. They don't know I exist.. yet. and that's okay because I have made so many amazing friends and found people my age that love them too and have grown with me through all these years. and I think that is the greatest gift i could ever receive.

So yes, being a stan is basically like a full time job because so many things happen at once.

but what i have come to find is that we are more than just fans, for some people, this fandom is all they have and to bring others up when they're feeling down is the best thing I feel that this band has taught me.

My favorite ashton irwin quote (because he might be my favorite even though I love them all)

IS

"Take a moment to love that you are alive".

Because life is precious, and its a gift.

The music that connects us is what makes us stronger. Whatever you're into, whomever you love, don't let it fade. and never, ever let anyone make you feel bad about what makes you happy.

Because your music might just do more for you than you'll ever know.
