The darkness draped my room in its velvety softness, my eyes wide open. My heart was racing from the kiss Isaac and I had shared yet tears still stained my cheeks as questions swirled through my mind. Don't get me wrong I understood why he wanted to keep me at a distance, but I wasn't scared of him. I never could be. No matter what, the risk would always be worth the reward when it came to him. It felt as though being his was more important than air.

My eyes grew heavy as the thoughts slowed, and that's when a heard it.

            TAP!

I shot up in bed and looked around my room, my heart beating fiercely within my chest cavity.

            TAP!

It was coming from my window, so I walked over and pulled open my curtains and was met by a smiling Isaac. Yes, I said smiling. His eyes lit up as I pushed the window up allowing him entry. "What are you doing?"

"I had to see you, so I climbed the tree by the garage to get onto the roof like I did when we were kids," he stepped down until his feet were firmly planted on the floor of my room.

"We aren't kids anymore though. If my parents find you now, they won't just let you stay, especially after what you have done." Hurt flooded his eyes, he walked around me as he tossed my journal onto my bed.

"Why did you give me that?" He kept his back to me, but I knew his full attention was on me.

"Because I needed you to know," I shrugged even though he couldn't see me. "I should have told you a long time ago."

He spun around to face me, "Are you trying to make this harder on me?"

"What? No," my voice clearly confused by his accusation. "I just wanted you to understand—"

"Understand what?" His face filled with anger.

"Why are you being like this?"

He stepped close enough for me to detect the stench of alcohol ripe in his breath. "You want me to hurt? I already do. Every day Em. I ache for you like I never could another person and I can't have you. I won't have you. I am like poison, I ruin everything I touch, and I refuse to ruin you too."

"You won't ruin me," I coed as I closed the distance between us. Cradling his face in my hands I stepped closer to look him in the eyes, but he closed them tight and pulled away from my touch.

"You don't know that, and I won't risk it."

"Isaac would you just look at me?" I pleaded, tears already forming.

He rubbed at his face in frustration before closing the distance between us, his lips crushing into mine. It didn't feel like our earlier kiss, it wasn't tender. It was rough and greedy. It was repulsive, I shoved him hard causing him to tumble to the ground. "See what I mean?"

            "You're drunk, you aren't yourself."

"How would you know, huh Em? We haven't been friends in years maybe this is who I am now. Don't like it do you?" He laughed as he pulled himself up of the carpet.

He stepped towards me, causing me to hold up my hands in surrender. "Please, Isaac stop." The flood gates opened, and the tears streamed my face at an alarming rate. I had never felt scared of him however, the look he was giving me was dark and tortured. I was terrified of what he would do next. "Please just go."
