"Em, where are you?" Isaac called out from down the hall.
"In here," I shouted back.
When he walked in, he found me laying down on my back reading through a scrapbook. "What's that?" He asked while plopping down beside me.
My cheeks blushed slightly, "Just a book I started making when I was really young."
"Anything interesting?" He teased as he tickled my sides causing me to wiggle around, small giggles passing my lips.
When he finally let me breathe, I smiled. "If I show you promise you won't run for the hills?"
His eyes lit up as his lips parted into a contagious grin, "Promise. Remember you and I, through thick and thin, we're in this together until the end."
My cheeks burned hotter than they had before. "You know Isaac Holland, I'm going to hold those words against you. You're stuck with me forever."
"I wouldn't have it any other way. Now are you going to show me or not?"
I glanced at the book nervously before opening it up to the first page and shoving it towards him.
He flipped through the pages, as I watched nervously. It was a scrapbook of our friendship, it was filled with: pictures of us together, notes we had given one another, inside jokes, stories, and every little flower he had ever given me. "Em, this is amazing!"
"Really, you don't think its creepy?" I asked timidly.
"Not at all!"
"Good, because it's your present from me since we graduate the eighth-grade tomorrow!" I smiled widely as I stared at my closest friend. "I promise you will get another one from me when we graduate high school together!"
"If I don't, I'm going to be very disappointed." He pulled me in for a hug, which caused the butterflies in my stomach to swarm like they always did when he was around. He was my closest friend and somewhere along the road I wanted him to be so much more. He understood things about me that no one else did. I never doubted myself around him, the only thing I doubted was whether or not he would ever want me the same way I wanted him. I leaned my head into him and buried it into the crook of his neck as he continued scanning the pages. "I love you Em." He turned his head just enough so his lips could press firmly against my forehead.
"I love you too Isaac, I always will. Remember you and I, through thick and thin, we're in this together until the very end."
