Becca made it easy for me to avoid Isaac during line up by keeping his attention on her. The game seemed to drag on but that was most likely due to my desire to leave. Once the buzzer echoed through the stadium for the last time, I gathered my things and headed for the car.
Becca looked at me confused, "Where are you going? We have to congratulate the guys."
"I think I'm okay, I really just want out of here." My eyes pleaded for her understanding. She laughed nervously but waved goodbye before joining everyone on the field.
I waited for what felt like an hour. All of the parents had cleared, heck even the players had started to trickle out. When I spotted Sean, I jogged up to him. "Hey! Have you seen Bec?"
"I think she went off somewhere with Charles, he's getting pretty serious about her. I think he might actually make it official tonight!"
My eyes lit up, "Really?"
"Yep, do you want to ride with me instead?" He smiled at me sweetly.
"I'd love to!" I looped my arm with his while sending Becca a quick text letting her know. Climbing into his truck I spotted Isaac walking out, his eyes penetrating my very soul. His emotions once again unreadable, his demeanor cold and stiff. Brittany ran up to him excitedly before crashing her lips into his. Rolling my eyes, I ducked my head into the cab of Sean's truck. "I didn't say it earlier, but I've missed you too by the way." I smiled as I laced my fingers with his.
The after party was already in full swing by the time Sean out front. "You ready?"
"Definitely, are you?"
"I have you by my side so, yes," he smiled before climbing out. Following his lead, I walked around the back of it to meet him. I had to jump back when a black Harley sped past nearly hitting me. "What the fuck man?"
Sean marched over towards Isaac, but I was able to reach him before he could cause a scene. "Let it go, he isn't worth it." I gave him a genuine smile, which caused the tension in his muscles to relax. "Now can we go get a drink?"
"Yes," he smiled as he placed his hands on my shoulders kissing my forehead tenderly. "I hope you know how sorry I am for being a dick."
"I forgive you," I tipped my head enough so that our lips could meet for a brief moment. "Now come on." I pulled away abruptly, dragging him inside behind me. Ignoring Isaac's prying eyes as we disappeared into the home.
Sean spotted an open spot on the couch and quickly swooped in on it for us. "Stay right here so we don't lose the spot while I go get us drinks. Do you know what you want?"
"Can you get me a Smirnoff ice? Max said he was bringing a huge case for the girls."
"Sure," he leaned down to kiss me. "I'll be back."
He disappeared into the mass of people standing around drinking and talking. The front door opened, and I glanced over hopeful it was Becca with Charles but to my dismay it was Isaac with Brittany. She was clinging to his back like a monkey. I slouched into the couch while my stomach dropped. I needed more than a few drinks if I was going to make it through the night.
Sean made his way over with a Guinness beer for himself and a Smirnoff Screwdriver for me. "Oh, how I love you!" Snatching the bottle from him I twisted off the cap and chugged half the bottle without taking a single breath of air.
"Someone's eager," he teased while wiping away a dripple that had found its way to my chin. "I saw Max by the way. He wanted to know if you would come play a round of beer pong with him. He said he has always wanted to play with you, but you didn't start partying until this year." He chuckled as he placed his arm around my shoulders.
