The football team watched as we worked. Luckily by the time we needed to clear out for the first game of the night we nailed the routine. We gathered in our designated spot in the stadium to watch the first half of the junior varsity team's game. Becca and Max sat with me towards the front, it was a relief not having to be forced to watch Isaac and Brittany ogle at each other.
"How's your head feeling?" Max rubbed my back gently.
"Better," I smirked. "I feel normal again so that's good I suppose." I laughed slightly before leaning into Max's chest. "Thanks for being there for me today."
"You're welcome. Why did you leave class anyways? Ditching class isn't like you."
"I know. I shouldn't have done it, but I just get so mad seeing Isaac with Brit. I just don't understand what she has that I don't."
"Absolutely nothing," Max scuffed. "Except maybe herpes."
I giggled.
"Max!" Becca barked while trying not to laugh. "Be nice!"
"Hey, we all know she doesn't deserve nice," he threw Becca the side eye. "She's egotistical and blatantly rude since starting high school."
"That's putting it lightly," I mumbled under my breath. The buzzer rang signaling the end of the first half, so we all stood to walk towards the secondary field to warm up. "Catch you after the game Max!"
"See you guys after. Wait you're both going tonight right?"
"Yes sir," Becca shouted before grabbing my hand and pulling me away.
While walking towards the field someone shoved passed me roughly. I glanced their direction and it was Isaac with Brittany. He threw me a look that could kill before crashing his lips possessively into hers. Rolling my eyes, I continued on my path completely ignoring his display of dominance. We lined up to begin our stretches, and I couldn't help but over hear Brittany's conversation with one of the other girls when she finally joined us.
"Are you guys going to have sex tonight?"
"I hope so, he's amazing in bed," her voice was giddy. Which only made my stomach turn more.
"Hopefully Emily doesn't find out," the girl whispered quietly.
"Who cares if she does! It's not my fault he's not interested in her obsessive psycho self." She laughed, "He snuck me over while his dad was still at work and I found this old journal of hers. You should read some of the stuff inside of it."
My mind raced through the possibilities of what journal she was talking about. Isaac had returned my private journal that night in my room, so my curiosity was peaked.
The girl's face displayed concern, "I wouldn't let him know you saw it. He may not be interested but if he still has that it's for a reason."
"Whatever, I'm not worried. Why would he want someone inexperienced when he can have me?"
I needed to avert my attention somewhere else before I clawed her eyes out. It wasn't news to me that they had slept together, it was the way she talked about me. As if I was just some crazy stalker he had. If that's how he truly saw me, there wasn't anything I could do but move on. Maybe I would take Sean up on that offer.
