As I walked to the cafeteria I looked down at my watch. Shit. Lunch was half way over which means all the decent food will have gone and all the gross slop will be left. I rolled my eyes and huffed as I carried on walking.

As I thought there wasn’t any pizza or salad left. I picked up a cheese sandwich inspecting it to make sure it was edible. It looked ok, but I really didn’t trust the food from here. I put it on my tray and picked up a fruit pot that had strawberry and apple in and a bottle of orange juice. After I’d paid for my lunch I looked around to see if I could see the girls.

They were literally nowhere to be seen. The cafeteria was half empty now anyway so I just sat on an empty table. I took a bite of the sandwich and decided that it was ok to eat. As I was eating I pulled out my phone and scrolled through Facebook, but no-one had posted anything interesting.

As I slid my phone back into my jeans pocket I glanced up to see 2 people from the next table looking at me. I frowned slightly and they looked away. After a few moments I realised that Luke was on that table too. They were definitely talking about me since they kept warily glancing at me every few minutes. When I’d finished my lunch I got up and walked away, making sure not to look back. I checked the time again. 5 minutes til the end of lunch. I decided to walk towards Biology.

When I reached our room there were 2 other girls waiting there. I didn’t know their names, but I knew they definitely were not popular. I mentally begged Tamzin to hurry up, I wasn’t used to standing alone at all. A few moment later Miss Wilkins unlocked the Biology room door and let us in. It was really weird being in a classroom when only 3 of us were there.

The bell went and the classroom slowly began to fill up. Eventually Tamzin walked in. She looked a bit shocked to see me. ‘I thought you ditched?’ she asked.

‘I ditched 3rd period to see Spencer.’ I explained, leaving out the fact that I didn’t want to hear what Courtney had to say. Tamzin just nodded in reply.

We were learning about cells and mitochondria and all that rubbish. I made my notes look really cute by using different coloured pens instead of boring black ink. After I’d gotten bored I got my phone out and checked my inbox making sure to keep checking that Miss Wilkins wasn’t watching me.

from Mom

I’m working late tonight, there’s money for take-out on the kitchen counter. x

At least I had the house to myself. It’s so much better than my mom always trying to ask me about my life. It’s really none of her business anyway. She only even asks me since she wants me and Spencer to break up, which is not going to happen.
