I’d spent most of Sunday crying and sleeping, at least when I was asleep I wasn’t hurting. I’d tried to persuade my mom to let me have the day off school, since I was feeling to shit to concentrate on anything anyway, but she was being a bitch and is literally forcing me to go. Ugh.
I checked my timetable to see what lessons I had. Biology. Physics. Religious Studies. History. Geography. I was relieved knowing that I had no classes with Spencer or Courtney all day. I got ready for school, but skipped most of my make-up. Only applying a faint layer of foundation and a touch of mascara.
My mom insisted on driving me to school, to make sure I actually showed up. I didn’t fight it since it let me escape seeing Courtney. I made sure to text Tamzin to let her know not to pick me up. Biology was easy enough. We were watching an ‘educational documentary’ which was good since I didn’t have to think and Tamzin couldn’t talk to me unless she wanted Miss Wilkins to scream in her face. Strict teachers are useful sometimes.
At the end of the lesson I noticed everyone placing notebooks in their bags. I was confused. ‘I’m sure you all made sure to take useful notes, since the information shown today will be extremely important for your final grades.’ Crap.
I didn’t even know we were meant to take notes. Tamzin whispered to me as we left the room ‘you can copy my notes, Jen.’
‘’Thanks.’ I replied and walked down the corridor until I reached physics.
Savannah was great in physics. She didn’t mention me and Spencer at all, and spoke to me all lesson telling me funny and interesting gossip. She was great at taking your mind off things. Religious Studies went by slowly. We had to write an essay on what different religions thought on abortion and what our personal views were. Blah.
Here was the part of the day I was least looking forward to. Lunch. The only time today I’d be stuck with Courtney. Savannah had to leave early for a dentist appointment, so she wouldn’t be in history or geography either. So I only had Tamzin to support me, which she wouldn’t since no-one wants to mess with Courtney. She’d probably just sit there in silence pretending that nothing was going on.
We got our food and then sat at the table in silence. Until Courtney decided to open her big, bitchy mouth that is. ‘You do realise you’re making the biggest mistake of your life don’t you?’ she hissed at me.
‘No I’m not.’ I replied.
‘Seriously Jenna! Do you even want to be popular anymore? Since breaking up with Spencer is seriously going to reduce your social status.’
‘I’d prefer that than being cheated on and disrespected!’
‘Ugh. You’re such a child sometimes, I swear! He said sorry, get over it!’
I got up and left after that. I didn’t have anywhere to go so I just decided to go in the library for the rest of lunch.
It was so strange in here. So...quiet. All the nerds looked at me with shocked expressions since it isn’t everyday that Jenna Clark would ruin her reputation by going into the library at lunch. After a few seconds no-one even cared anymore. It was...weird. How did everything not turn into a big scene with these people? Why weren’t my friends like this?
