I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock screaming in my ear. I rolled over and punched it to switch it off and got out of bed. I had a quick shower and then blow dried and straightened my hair. Then I applied my make-up the same way I did every morning. Foundation, concealer, bronzer, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick and lipgloss. By the time I'd done the only breakfast I had time for was a cereal bar.
I waited outside for Tamzin to pick me up since the weather was actually nice for a change. A few minutes later she pulled up at the end of my driveway so I got in the car in the seat behind the passenger seat, since Courtney always got picked up first and therefore 'deserved' the front seat. I said hi to all the girls. The only good part about being the last to be picked up is that the drive to school is really short from my house. I was staring out of the car window, just letting myself zone out for a while.
'Sorry to break this to you guys, but me and Jen won't be in gym class with you today.' Courtney said with a smile. All of us hated gym class. I mean who actually wants to run around, get all sweaty and ruin our hair and make-up? 'What?' Savannah whined. 'Can I come to this stupid meeting thing with you guys.' She huffed. Courtney just laughed as I worried about what was going to happen.
As we arrived at school Tamzin and Savannah went off to gym class, while me and Courtney made our way to the office. Mr Burton was waiting for us at the door. He let us into the office and he explained that he had to go to the teacher's lounge for an announcement or something. As he left the room Courtney turned to me and said 'Remember why we're doing this ok Jen? We have to put people in their place sometimes, it's our job.' I weakly nodded my head, just wanting this to be over.
A few minutes later he returned to the office with a cup of coffee and sat down at his desk. I was blankly staring at the floor since I couldn't look him in the eye. 'Now girls I hope you understand how serious these allegations are. As you know this school has no tolerance for violence of any kind.' My stomach tightened, why did Courtney have to make such a big deal out of this.
'Jenna, yesterday afternoon in the corridor of the main building is it true that Luke violently shoved your arm and purposely threw your bag on the floor.' Mr Burton questioned.
'Well, honestly I didn't actually see what he did since I was talking to Courtney at the time and was facing the opposite way.' I said quietly. I watched Courtney glare at me out of the corner of my eye.
'Courtney?' Mr Burton prompted. I looked at her pleadingly, I don't even get why she wanted Luke to get in trouble anyway. She let out a dramatic sigh before she responded.
'Luke definitely did purposely shove Jenna's arm since I saw it with my own two eyes, but I couldn't tell if he meant to throw her bag or not.' She scowled at me.
The meeting carried on with Courtney answering 95% of all the questions, I only spoke if I was directly asked to and answered in the shortest answers possible.
I was so relieved after we were let out of the office even though Mr Burton said that 'consequences will be given.' Hopefully nothing too bad since he didn't even do anything wrong really. I practically ran out of the door to get away from Courtney, she would not be pleased with me since I didn't stick to her story.
I turned right down the corridor and reached religious studies class just before the bell for second period rang. This has been the first time all year that I've been glad to be in this class with none of my friends. I just couldn't be bothered talking to anyone right now.
