It was Friday afternoon, we were all sat in art class. 20 minutes to go until it was the weekend! ‘So are there any parties this weekend?’ I asked.

‘There’s only one, it’s at Derek’s or David’s or something.’ said Courtney. ‘It’s the only thing that’s happening this weekend and he isn’t even popular!’ I’d already realised that when Courtney didn’t know his name that he wasn’t popular. Courtney only payed attention to a few select people.

‘Are we gonna go or not?’ Tamzin asked. Savannah wrinkled her nose, even though she’s definitely the nicest out of all of us she still didn’t want to be seen anywhere that could damage her reputation. ‘I think so. Most of the football team is going’ Great. Possibly being stuck at a party with Spencer wasn’t exactly my idea of fun. ‘So is Jennifer, Chris, Will, Dylan, Kate and Sophie.’ Dylan. That’s why Courtney wanted to go. So she could hook up with him and then be completely ignored until they could hook up again, she was always miserable after a few days when he hadn’t called. I didn’t get why she put herself through that all the time. ‘Which Sophie?’ Savannah asked. ‘Not the fat one, but not the thin and not the one with the glasses either.’ Courtney replied.

‘Oh, Sophie Dales then?’ Tamzin asked.

‘I don’t know. Who cares?’ Courtney replied with a bored tone. ‘The only thing that’s gonna ruin the party is that Derek or David or whoever he is has tons of geeky friends. Ugh he should have let us make a guest list for him.’

‘It is his party, Courtney.’ Savannah said laughing.

Everyone came back to my house to get ready for the party. ‘I’m gonna check facebook to see what this person’s name is.’ Tamzin said. A couple of minutes later she let us know that it was Derek. I got my mom to drive us to the party since we would be drinking, not that she knew that of course.

When we arrived we got some drinks and were stood around in the living room. It was busy. There were loads of people I didn’t recognise, since they were the type of people who would never be invited to our parties. I could see some of the football team across the room, but not Spencer thank God! Courtney was nervously looking round for Dylan. Since he said he’d be here at 9 and it was 9:45 now. She kept checking her phone even though it hadn’t made a sound since we got here.

A few minutes later she tried calling him, she ended up shouting down the phone. No-one else around us really noticed since the music was blaring too loudly for anyone to hear. She hung up the phone and started crying a bit. She was probably more emotional from drinking too much than she was from Dylan since she’d already had 4 drinks since we got here.

Tamzin took her outside to calm down. People were coming and going all the time, I wasn’t really paying much attention until a familiar face came through the door. My heart skipped a few beats. It was Luke, looking hot as hell. Savannah started laughing. ‘What?’ I asked her.

‘You need to stop staring at him before he gets a restraining order on you! Don’t be so obvious Jen!’ She said jokingly. ‘He’s going to the kitchen now. Come on we’ll go and get some more drinks so you have an excuse to talk to him.’

‘But..’

‘No buts! Come on!.’ Savannah said pulling me through the door.
