25. Hope is a dangerous thing.

Joe didn't even know for how long he had been crying. Why though? Wasn't it his own ego telling Ben to move on since he ' Was too late. ' ? Pathetic, that's what you are. You really ruined this for yourself and no one can help you right now. Joe only cried more and more tightly gripping his hair with both hands, he was trying to get rid of the pain so badly.

Maybe it was the best for them both, maybe this friendship wasn't that good. Maybe Joe did this because he knew that if they moved out of the friendzone it would hurt more when they would break up, Joe was scared. ' Please stop, please stop- ' He whispered while crying his eyes out. He wanted everything to stop. What did he do wrong to ever go through this? Why did god dislike him this much?

The next day he didn't see Ben at school, and the days after that, the whole week. Of course Gwil, Rami and Lucy found it weird of him just saying nothing or stop talking to them and Joe only knew why it was. And this might have been his fault.

" So then I kissed her and there was this bird who flew through the window and told us that there was something wrong with Joe. " Rami finished his sentence looking at the boy being totally off guard the whole time. Joe looked up at Rami smiling while his eyes were giving the whole act away. " Joe? " Rami asked putting his hand ontop of Joe's. " What's wrong? " Rami asked worried. Joe started tearing up not being able to hold it in. " I fucked up. " He hid his face inside his hands. " I fucked up, I fucked up- " Joe said as he slowly started hitting his forehead with his own hand. Rami grabbed his hand to stop him. " What did you do? " Joe sighed at the question. " He. " Joe started tearing up again. " He, told me. That- " He cut himself off starting to cry. " It's okay. Take your time. " Rami said comforting his friend.

 " He loves me. " Joe said and Rami's eyebrows rose. " That's good isn't it? " He was really confused because wasn't this what Joe wanted? " I told him. To move on. " Joe said feeling as if the whole library was staring at him. " I uhm- " Joe spoke up again breaking his sentence off because he just couldn't. " I am scared Rami, what if we break up. It would hurt more than this. I wouldn't be able to handle that. " Joe panicked crying shamelessly. " Why are you thinking about that? Joe, sometimes you need to take risks and the way the Joe was talking about his huge crush a couple of weeks ago would slap you! " Rami said clearly disappointed. " But I'm scared. " Joe weakly said making Rami sigh. " Well if you want to do this it's your choice but please don't forget that when you lose him, you lose him. Don't let your feelings hide in there Joe, only you know what you really want and that's not crying here because you are scared. " Rami said patting the boys head as he stood up. " I gotta go now, I'll talk to you later. " He said before looking at the boy again. " Think about it. " 

Joe just wanted to crawl inside his bed and never come out.

" Where the hell have you been?! " Lucy asked angry when Ben opened the door. " Calm down. " Gwil said holding her back. Ben just walked back into his livingroom as if he was dead from the inside. " Uh- Hey mate, how is it going? " Gwil asked looking inside the room that was a mess. Lucy elbowed the taller. " Obviously not good. " Lucy whispered to Gwil who was rubbing the sore spot Lucy hit. 

" You weren't at school for the whole week. " Lucy mentioned and Ben only sat on his couch staring at the TV but really not paying any attention to it. " Do you guys want to watch Spongebob with me? " Lucy didn't know Ben for that long but she surely knew he didn't like Spongebob and that there was only one person who did. " Don't you hate Spongebob? " Gwil asked looking at him. " No I love him, I love Spongebob. I love watch- " He cut himself off sighing deeply letting his head fall down. Silence entered the room and Lucy was only looking at him in concern. " You aren't talking about Spongebob aren't you Ben? " Gwil asked and Ben just started crying. " No. " He cried as Lucy hugged him. After a while of them just being silent and Gwil just standing there not knowing what to do Ben calmed down. " I uhm, confessed to him. " Ben said fiddling with his fingers only looking down. Lucy and Gwil looked confused at the blonde. " Isn't that a good thing? " Gwil asked folding his arms. " He said that- " He cut himself off to take a deep breath. " He told me to move on. " 

Gwil and Lucy looked at him in disbelief. Gwil didn't even know about Joe's crush but Lucy did and she started to get a little bit annoyed. " What the fuck. " Gwil said before going back to just standing there in silence. 

" I am done. " Lucy said standing up. " Lucy what- " Gwil asked but getting cut off. " I am not going through all of this AGAIN. Ben I'm sorry but you love him, " She said and Ben looked up nodding in agreement. " Even if he rejected you 9000 times, I KNOW what he feels he's just too stupid to think he could move on. " Ben sighed at that. " He turned me down Lu- " Lucy was having none of it. " Listen to me! " Lucy yelled making Ben flinch. " You love him don't you?! " Ben looked down. " Yes. " He confessed. " If you really love him. Fight for him. " Lucy said seeing Ben looking up again. " Fight for him if you really care about him. Love him like no one else ever did. Then I know, he won't turn you down.. " Lucy was right, Ben thought. Why sit here being sad while he could do something about it? Even if he just tried, that's what he had over for Joe. " Yeah. " He nodded in agreement. Gwil could only smile at the boy finally having hope again.
