Earth looked at her twin going through her homework trying to pull out any mistakes while she had leaned against the little window from the room, looking outside, not specifically at anything, their lives revolved around this little compound called home, once back from their school, both the girls were playing around with the compound's kids, then eating the meal their mom had made them in the morning, completing their homework and then playing some more around the compound, waiting for their parents to return from their jobs.
Earth hadn’t really known what the real world really was like, all she knew as long as she was here in the compound and her sister and parents were here, this was the world she always believed in.
And now the next door neighbour, Kong.
The twins had started to call him as their older brother, and Kong didn’t seem to mind at all, to be honest most of the households around were intrigued by his arrival, and it hadn’t missed the younger kids either.
The kids of the compound wanted to know who he was, they wanted to know what the master was like?
Didn’t he work very close to the master?
Earth remembered that one time she and her twin had met the master, they didn’t understand why their parents feared him, he was so young and handsome and so kind, he was the one to tell them to study hard and make their parents proud unlike the other compound members who said that their education was going to be of no use and they’ll be servants just like their parents.
But the master was kind,
Earth still remembered how she and Ice had accidentally walked into him two years back when the two were hardly ten, he was about to go somewhere, and the twins had been scared out of hell, even their mother who was cleaning the room walked in, trying to apologise and scolding them to go back.
But the master had kept a hand over Earth's head,
“What’s your name?” He had smiled and Earth could see her mother standing back in fear, as if the master would kill them.
Earth had stuttered before telling him their names and the master chuckled a little before removing his hand from her head.
“So, Ms Earth and Ms Ice, what are you doing here?” He asked.
He looked like a prince.
“We were… looking for mom… we needed her permission to go out to buy new notebooks.” Earth said with as much confidence she could conjure up, mom never taught her how to talk with The Heir and she was scared.
The master had nodded before looking down as he pulled out his wallet then kneeling infront of them, pulling out a few notes and passing it to them,
“Buy the notebooks and get some candies as well, just, be very good in studies, okay? You need to study well to make your mom proud right?”He was polite and the two girls nodded before he got back to his feet, ruffling their hairs a little before walking out of the house without turning to glance at their mom.
Earth remembered how her mother proudly told about their little encounter back in the compound, how proudly she showed off her daughters to be able to get to meet the master, he had even talked to them out of all the workers' kids there!
Though their mom had taken the money from them to keep it saved while giving only a few for them to get their notebooks.
But it had been a long time back, and she still remembered their encounter with the master so vividly.
“Hey, there’ s someone outside!”
Earth was brought back from her thoughts when she heard her twin hiss in a whisper and they immediately got on their toes to peek out of their door to find a rather strange lady standing outside Kong's door, strange in a good way because she didn’t look like she belonged in this compound, wearing a black sunglass, a white jeans and pink top over which she was wearing a leopard print fur coat, she looked too rich to be here.
