Kong felt something stir inside him, his ear ringing from the certain sobbing, someone was holding his hand and it was paining him.

It took him some struggle until his eyes fluttered open and a white ceiling wall came into sight, he could hear the beeping of a machine somewhere near him, Kong felt pain shoot up in his body just to turn his head to look at the person sitting beside.

It took Kong about five minutes to wrap his head around the place, it was a hospital ward, some kind of liquid being infused by the tube attached to his arm and the other side

It was Chiya, her face buried on the space beside him on the bed while crying softly, Kong looked past her where Arthit was seated, asleep, in his shirt and trousers, his legs up to his chest as if he had waited a long time and then fell asleep like that, his coat thrown by the armrest.

Arthit looked dishevelled and exhausted.

“Kong?”

He heard Chiya’s soft voice and he turned his attention to her, tears smeared all over her face and she was shivering.

“How are you feeling…. Sorry, not the relevant question to be asking you…” Chiya looked terribly scared.

Kong tried to smile to reassure her but he couldn’t, there was some pain stinging at his left arm, he looked at his bandaged left shoulder, his arm resting in a position from where he couldn’t even bring himself to move his arm.

“Hey? Are you okay? Are you feeling the pain? Should I call the doctor?” She asked and Kong shook his head, testing himself as he uttered a soft 'no' hardly audible.

And Chiya broke into silent sobs again, holding Kong's right hand to her eyes as she cried silently.

“Why do we have to go through this? Why you? Why the heck do we have such terrible fate?” And Chiya was crying like she couldn’t stop herself anymore.

Her tears spilled out like they had been there for decades to finally break down until it was too much to bear.

Kong extracted his hand from her grasp before keeping it over her hair as she buried her face to not face him and Kong let her cry.

Finally when Chiya stopped crying and pulled herself together before wiping her tears.

“How is he?” Kong asked, glancing at Arthit’s asleep frame.

Chiya sighed, “He lost his parents, what do you expect?”

Kong fell silent.

He had nothing to say.

“But he refused to perform the funeral…  not until you recover and beside him… he needs you.” Chiya said after glancing and making sure Arthit was asleep, momentarily getting up and walking over to cover Arthit with his coat as he slept before sitting back beside Kong, holding his hand.

“He didn’t go through much physical harm, though, had a major panic attack the other night and almost fainted but he is fine…. The troubling thing is that…. He hasn’t cried once, he should, you know…. He lost his parents, but he didn’t, his face is literally blank sometimes like he can’t understand what is happening but…. Let’s not talk about this anymore.” Chiya grimaced like she was in pain just to talk about it.

“How did I…”

“You? Well, you lost a lot of blood, the bullet had went through your shoulder, doctors are still unsure if your shoulder is gonna be completely fine, it was too near to be shot.... so there was nothing to stop the bleeding, your blood group is rare too… it was so difficult and I hadn’t been more scared in my life…. I was informed of all the shit just when you were almost on your last breaths…. Tanawat was the one to bring me here, if it hadn’t been for Arthit…. He shares your blood group and didn’t hesitate before giving his blood to be transferred in you.”
