“Learning to love is hard.” Arthit uttered and Ms Lee looked with the same introspective look on her face from across the table.

“You think you’re not loved?” Ms Lee asked.

Arthit hadn’t realised when, but after some time he had started to speak in his counselling sessions, and to his relief, Ms Lee didn’t suggest him or advice him about anything because that would be outrageous considering that she had no idea what Arthit had went through, she only listened and just asked him some trivial things that may have helped him look deeper into himself….

“I think I'm loved.” Arthit answered, pausing as he avoided meeting her eyes when he thought about that specific someone who would be at work at present, doing overtime just so Arthit could have that huge expensive canvas and paintbrushes Arthit had just eyed once wishfully but it had been enough for that specific someone to know what he wanted.

“He loves me too much for his own good.” Arthit shrugged and Ms Lee stayed silent.

“Kong…. He cares too much, he makes me feel loved…. But, I always push him away…. I don’t think I can love him the way he does so easily…. He should move on.” Arthit uttered and he knew Ms Lee would be tired just how many times he used to say that in the sessions.

“But he loves you, right? And that gives him happiness? Would you stop his happiness?”

“I can’t keep him happy, in the last six months…. All I see is effort from his side and all I do is push him away, I’m scared…”

“And you’re scared that you can’t love him like that anymore?” She asked.

Arthit hesitated before speaking, “Just…. Loving someone is hard, I don’t know how he manages to do it.”

They heard the buzzing of the alarm, signifying their session’s end, and Arthit immediately got to his feet, greeting the lady before heading out, he didn’t want to cry in front of her, he never did.

He had only cried like twice in these months and it had been with Kong around him.

The first time, it was just the pent up frustration and fear, the second time… he didn’t even know, he just knew he was breaking down and Kong had been there, silently taking him in his arms as Arthit broke down in tears.

But from then on, Arthit hadn’t cried, he didn’t want to add this to Kong's burden too.

He walked out, hands shoved inside his jeans’ pockets as he walked up to the supermarket, he had to do some grocery shopping, he picked up the vegetables, checking them, not letting his eyes waver over his favourite items but his eyes did waver over Kong’s favourite food section, pulling out some of the spices and ingredients and then walking straight to the payment counter.

After paying, he walked to his favourite Fine Arts Store by the corner, it sold the stationary at lesser price plus the smell of paints made him happy.

“Ah, look who’s here?!”

Arthit smiled at the shop owner, especially when she was his own junior, realising he wasn’t the only artistic engineering student back in college and surprisingly enough, she never said anything about his past even when all his past was all over the news years back.

“Hey, May.” Arthit grinned at her and she waved from behind the counter.

“Did you get those sheets-“

“You don’t even have to say it, P'” She said before pulling out the rolled pack of white sheets and some tubes of acrylic paints.

“Thanks so much, nong.” Arthit said with a smile before paying for it.

“Kong is one lucky guy…. And here I am, I always have to bicker with M until one of us is defeated enough to make some food and if we are lazy to even bicker, we call for that greasy pizza...” May sighed out looking wishfully at the bags of groceries that Arthit was carrying.

“Kong always warned you that M is lazy as hell. He tried to warn you way before you two got married."  Arthit chuckled before collecting his stuff.

“I think that’s what has us in ditch, both of us are lazy as hell.” May rolled her eyes and Arthit shook his head before going through the shop like he usually did, just to look through the stationary, even if something caught his eyes, he avoided to think about it.

“It’s about time, you two get married too, it feels like we’re waiting for centuries now…”

May’s whining made Arthit freeze, but soon enough gained back his composure before bidding his greetings to her and left.
