Arthit had known what to do.He was told about it, rather firmly by his guard, months before his release, he knew what would happen, what he really was concerned about was that he was so used to this prison life for the last six years of his life…. How was he going to adjust back in the real world?
Not that Arthit had any idea how anything was going to work in the real world, he had literally no idea, and maybe that’s why it was a good idea that he would be spending some months or years in a halfway house, he was ready for that, he wasn’t particularly looking forward to his release but he was getting sick of seeing the bars and the same stained walls for the last six years.
Sometimes Arthit wondered where Kong might be, what he might be doing but he immediately berated himself for it, he had no right to think about him.He could only hope Kong was alright and doing good, he was really proud of the fact that Kong actually gave him the respect and not visited him again after everything he had made that boy go through…. Sometimes Chiya had said that he should cut himself some slack too but Arthit always waved it off, he could never forgive himself for Kong.
But on the other news, Chiya was promoted and both Chiya and Knot were awarded the medals of bravery, they deserved it, due to her promotion, Chiya no longer visited him, she was quite busy, but Knot used to visit sometimes, not said much….And Arthit understood it, he was here because he wanted to make sure that Arthit knew that despite it all, he could still fall back to Knot, Arthit had even apologised to him but Knot had glared at him, told him that Kong had told him about it all, and Arthit had expected it, Knot had the right to know about it, even though they had hid it from Chiya since she was going through her own phase of motherhood, Arthit had smiled so warmly when she had told him about it.
Though, once she was promoted, Arthit hardly saw her around, and they never talked about Kong, as if they all understood by now that they needed their own space.
So when Arthit was been called in, announced about his release, Arthit just sighed.
He knew what waited, he would get some money, a ticket to the halfway house, and some clothes, that’d be it, Arthit only hoped he didn’t think about killing himself like he had thought so many times in that dark cell of his.
He had given a pair of simple shirt and trouser, the quality that Arthit might’ve never even let his servants wear but anyway, he had no time to ponder over that.
“You’re not going to the halfway-house.” The lady at the table told him and Arthit could only stare at her blankly and confused out of his wits.
“You’ve been granted the permission by the higher authority, officer Fang, your relative is waiting for you.”
“Relative? I have no relative.” Arthit tried to state but the uninterested lady officer only waved it off while handing Arthit his stuff, a simple wallet a bag with clothes, that was it.
Arthit froze, his mouth felt dry when he saw who was waiting for him outside the gates of the prison.
Arthit tried not to react, not to tear up, or lunge into a hug when he saw him.
Kong.
Arthit stayed so frozen for some time while he watched the way Kong's eyes crinkled into a smile, such a beautiful smile, and damn he had missed him so much.
Kong was wearing a simple buttoned-up pale blue shirt tucked in his black trousers, a tie was neatly around his neck before he loosened it and walked to him.
“I didn’t know what time exactly they’ll let you go, so I came in an hour early, sorry, I kind of- rushed here from my office.” Kong said, he looked so tidy and warm and everything nice.
“What are you doing here?” Arthit asked blandly, his passive expression not dying down anytime soon, but he watched as Kong shrugged, “I’m here to take you home.” Kong simply said like it was nothing out of the ordinary.
Arthit backed away when he saw Kong trying to move in to hug.
