Okayyy... so you guys may hate me after this. And I'm sorry, but it had to happen. It's a requirement to end my story.
I don't know how much is left in this story. Maybe 5 or 6 chapters, maybe 10. We'll just have to see.
Please don't hate me!
but the good news is, I've decided to do a sequel after this :)
I already have the plot of it mapped out in my head. After I finish this story, I'll spend some time writing some chapters for the sequel and then at some point start posting. Hope you guys like it!
Chapter 33:
I walked into Harmony's where I was meeting Cassidy, for old times sake. Damon had offered to watch Marina for the afternoon so I could have lunch with Cass and go shopping. We would then all meet up for dinner.
"Hey," she said, standing up and hugging me. I hugged her back. I had missed her so much.
"Where's your baby and that gorgeous hunk of a boyfriend?" she asked me, winking. I laughed; it was so like her.
"Damon's watching Marina, so she can get her nap."
Cassidy handed me the Diet Coke that she had already ordered, "That was sweet of him. He's pretty great."
I nodded, all serious now.
"Cass, I don't know what I would've done."
"What do you mean?"
I sighed, "After Carleigha died, I knew right away that I wanted to take care of Marina, not to mention she asked me to be her guardian. But I wasn't sure how it was all going to work out. I mean, a nineteen year old with a newborn baby? It's not like her dad is around to help, not that I'd want that. I'm just saying if I got pregnant I would expect to have the father around. Anyway, off track. When Damon showed up, I was hesitant to let him in. But at first he thought Marina was mine. He thought I got pregnant and had her, and yet he still offered to step in and help. I mean, who does that? Who offers to take that responsibility at 19? It's insane."
Cassidy just nodded at first after I finished talking.
"So that's why you took him back?" she asked.
"Not really the only reason. One of many. It just showed me the kind of guy he really is. And I love him Cassidy."
"Yeah, I can tell," she said smiling, "I can also tell he loves you. He's in love with you. I mean, you can tell even by the way he looks at you."
I smiled at that. I sure hoped she was right. Because I was risking everything that's anything for Damon.
We ate lunch and chatted before heading out to do some shopping. Cassidy of course dragged me into a bunch of designer stores I had never heard of. Sure I dress cute, she had told me, but my utter lack of knowledge is embarrassing. Big deal if I didn't know all the designer labels and which were better, at least I could dress. I didn't have any excuses to avoid those stores now thanks to my inheritance. Although I can't complain, I don't know where I would be right now if it weren't for that money.
The afternoon and evening passed quickly, heck the whole week passed quickly. Before I knew it, Damon and I were standing at the airport with Ryan and Cassidy, who loved us enough to skip classes and say goodbye. All of my stuff, including my car, was being shipped back to Arizona, and now it was time to head back.
"Oh my God," Cassidy wailed. She was crying, of course.
I hugged her, "Shh... It's okay. You know you can come visit me."
