Chapter 6:

I parked my car in a bar about 60 miles away from my house. I grabbed some cash and headed inside. It was dimly lit and smoky. Kind of depressing. Fit my mood perfectly.

I took a seat at the bar and waited for the bartender to serve me.

He came walking up to me.

"Jack and Coke, Double Tall, please," I said, looking at the TV, which had the news playing.

"Identification?" the burly man asked me.

I gave him a look. The kind that sends a clear message saying, "Don't screw with me."

He just turned away and started getting me my drink. Guess he understands.

He handed me a drink and said, "Take it easy, Sunshine, I know you're a minor."

I just glared at him and took a gulp of my alcohol. I was not in the mood.

I sat there watching the news and sipping my drink. I figured that I probably shouldn't have run out of my mom's funeral, but I couldn't deal with my dad and all his crap and my mom's death in one day. I had to spread those things out.

"You look kind of young to be drinking alcohol, Princess."

I looked over to see who said that. It was a young guy, probably 21 or 22. I'd guess younger, except that he was showing his id to the bartender. So he was atleast 21.

He was goodlooking. Tall, with short blonde hair, and piercing black eyes. He had a smirk on his face. Like he knew I was checking him out.

I turned back to the TV and ignored him.

"What's your name, Princess?" he asked me, sitting down on the stool next to mine.

"What's it to you?" I asked, not looking at him.

"Just curious is all. Wondering why a pretty girl like you is sitting at a bar in the middle of the day, dressed like you are, and drinking jack."

I turned to him, "I'm really not in the mood."

He held his hands up as if saying "okay okay." But didn't say anything.

I turned back to the TV and continued watching the muted news.

"You lost someone didn't ya?" the guy asked me.

"A boyfriend? Maybe a best friend?" he continued.

I spun my stool towards him.

"Yeah I lost someone, how did you know?" I asked.

"Well, your sitting in a crappy bar in the middle of the day, moping, and wearing a pretty black dress. You look like you just came from a funeral. Am I right?"

I narrowed my eyes at at the guy. Who is this guy?

"Yeah your right," I muttered.

He nodded sympathetically.

"Sorry," he said.

"Don't apologize. You didn't do anything," I told him.

"Yeah I know, but I know what your going through. I lost my fiancee two months ago. Car accident."

I looked at him carefully. This guy confuses me. He comes in acting all tough, then after two minutes of talking, he opens up and tells me how he lost his fiancee. Weird.
