"good luck with that." answered zach leaving gabbie with her mouth open.

then he dodged her and approached the living room waiting for gabbie to decide to leave the house. then he saw jonah sitting on one of the sofas.

the elder boy looked up and looked at zach for a few seconds in complete silence. they hadn't seen each other since the news of emma having a baby.

"how is she?" said the tall boy biting his lip. he looked worried.

oh fuck no, you're not asking that, zach thought.

the young boy was angry. jonah shouldn't ask zach how emma was, he should ask her. he should act like someone respectable.

"who?" zach asked, pretending he didn't know that jonah was talking about emma.

"zach..." jonah said with his warning tone, but zach didn't give a fuck.

zach was about to dodge him when he heard jonah burst into tears. jonah's green eyes looked clearer than ever and zach hadn't realized until then the bo

"i miss her. i've screwed up. i know. but she doesn't take my calls and her parents won't let me see her." jonah spoke again.

zach felt terrible to see him like this. "you treated her horribly. you fucked up everything."

"i know and you don't know how much i regret it." jonah said.

zach bit his lip and thought about how he could help him without hurting emma. but at that moment the house door opened and they both turned his heads to see emma.

zach was expecting to see a shattered emma, he was also expected her not to be in that house because she had told zach that she refused to see jonah ever again in her entire life. but what surprised him more was to see a smile on her face, and her eyes full of light.

zach watched as jonah tried to approach her, but stopped him with his hand and shook his head. "it's not the right time yet."

jonah had no time to say anything because zach had already left him behind and had approached emma who apparently came looking for him.

"let's go somewhere else." emma whispered. "i have to tell you something."

zach tried to act as if he wasn't surprised by emma's attitude, because she hadn't looked at jonah once, she hadn't even tried, she didn't look altered, she was just happy.

with a smile emma took zach towards the kitchen that was empty and sat on the counter.

emma let out a sigh staring at her fists that twisted in her lap. "i went to do the tests very early in the morning, i stayed there to wait for the results." her eyesight rose until she stopped in the brown eyes of zach. she swallowed and smiled again as at the beginning. "i'm not pregnant."

zach let out a stifled exclamation that made emma laugh. "but the test said..."

"they explained to me that sometimes they fail sometimes and that i only did it once, it is normal for those things to happen. look, i don't know, the important thing is that it said negative." emma interrupted him.
