the next morning, zach left his house with reese to go to the park to let her play with her friends. their parents didn't want her to go alone and zach offered to go with her. the brunet boy wanted to clear his mind of the thoughts about last night.
but while zach greeted reese with his hand when she left him behind to go with her group of friends, he stopped dead when she saw a very unpleasant scene.
zach hadn'tn stopped to think that among his sister's group of friends was isla avery. and if isla was there, another avery would be nearby.
zach didn't move even though he didn't want to be seen by them. but he was so intrigued by the scene and so shocked that he couldn't move.
zach had to swallow several times because the lump in his throat wanted to drown him. if it was any other girl, it wouldn't bother him, but the fact that it was gabbie who was with jack and that they were both laughing with joy took the breath away from zach. it made him sad.
It felt like they didn't even care of his situation of last night.
she was saying something and he was laughing.
since when is gabbie funny? thought zach angry. why the hell is he laughing? Are they laughing at me?
"zach! what are you doing?"
i'm going to kill her, she's going to die today, i swear i'm going to take revenge, though the brunet boy.
zach turns his head a little to see how emma approached him. from the corner of his eye he could see how jack began to look for zach with his eyes.
damn it emma!
"i'm going to kill you, em." zach said when the brunette girl was close to him. her slanted eyes seemed smaller as she laughed at the situation.
"you were stalking them?" asked the brunette girl.
"no, i was just taking care of reese." lied zach.
"reese is there." emma pointed in the other direction of the park.
zach looked at her seriously, he hadn't told her what had happened at dinner with jack's family and gabbie. he didn't feel like talking about it. but emma could see how hurt he was so she changed her smile into a sorry look. "i'm sorry, would you rather we move away a little?"
"please," zach said nodding.
zach was turning around to walk away with emma but a voice stopped him.
"zach, can we talk now?" he asked, zach saw that jack reached out to grab his shoulder, so zach moved sneakily so that it didn't reach him. "please."
what does he want to talk about? Does he want to reject me cordially? surely gabbie already told him everything and jack wants to discard me, zach thought.
"ehh... now i can't, i have to be with reese. She can get lost. maybe later. "zach said before turning around. he took emma's arm and dragged her away from the curly haired boy.
"what the hell happened?" emma asked as they sat down on one of the park benches, then zach began to tell him everything that happened without omitting details, emma crossed her arms and frowned angrily. "she's a bitch." she said talking about gabbie. emma clicked her tongue when she saw that zach was going to speak. "don't even try to defend gabbie, zach, she knows perfectly well that you love that boy and that jack was starting to feel something for you. i don't give a shit if she's confused and alone."
"i guess we all have the right to fight to be with the person we love." whispered zach.
"that would be feasible if she loved him."
zach let out a sigh, but said nothing.
