Dedicated to lorijanis
ERIK'S POV
Today, I was going to take my girl, Lori, out to dinner, but I was afraid of what she would say to my burning question. Lori had been with me ever since I could remember, even after the whole Wakanda falling out thing. Lori was a Wakandan, so that was where I first met her and I had been in love with her ever since. Not only was she smart, but she was beautiful and very strong minded. It was something I loved in a woman, especially if I wanted to settle down with her one day. Today, I wanted to ask her to marry me and hopefully, she would say "yes."
Speaking of Lori, she was in our workout room working out. I guess it was that former Marine blood in her. When she was done, she noticed me and sent me a smile.
She formally said,"N'Jadaka.."
"Lori.."
I tried to give her a glare, but I just couldn't.
She laughed and lightly punched my shoulder saying,"Never change, honey. Never change. What's our plan for today?"
She walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water, before I wrapped my arms around her from behind.
She accepted my embrace and I asked her,"How do you feel about dinner?"
"I feel great about it! I'll go get ready now. Be ready by seven o'clock."
I just nodded and went upstairs to get ready for the date. Lori was ready about an hour before seven and I could not help but notice how excited she was. For some reason, she always got like this any time I took her somewhere.
She linked her arm in my own and said,"Well, let's go, handsome. Lead the way."
LORI'S POV
As we sat at the table, Erik seemed a little nervous and I could tell he was trying to hide it from me. Hopefully, he was not going to break up with me during our date? Guys don't do that, right? I guess I wouldn't be surprised, if they did, but Erik wouldn't do that to me. Not him..
Erik asked me,"Do you believe I've been a good man to you, Lori?"
I nodded and said,"Yes. I've never thought otherwise. Is this about your father, N'Jadaka?"
I always liked switching between Erik's two names, and he never seemed to care.
He chuckled and held my hand on top of the table saying,"No, but I do want to be a father one day, and my father was a pretty good man. It's too bad he never got the chance to go back home."
I was shocked by the fact that he actually wanted kids, but that also made me very happy. I wanted the same thing.
I asked him,"Erik, what are you saying?"
He got up and fixed his suit, before he got down on one knee.
My breath got caught in my throat and he took my hand, asking me,"Lori, will you marry me?"
Everyone around us was watching with smiles and some were even recording, before I yelled,"YES, ERIK!! YES!"
He let out a sigh of relief and everyone cheered, clapping. Erik carefully placed the ring onto my finger and pulled me in for a kiss. I kissed back and imagined just how much I wanted to go wedding dress shopping. Now, I finally had an excuse to do just that.
