Here is a short story I wrote a while ago. It has a deeeeeep meaning so if you get it or have a theory, let me know!

Jane was perched upon the bench, in front of her old-fashioned blue piano. The melodic sound it emitted resonated throughout her, filling her with a strong sense of calm.

She heard a familiar soft knock, causing her to startle. Calmly, she walked over to the sill and opened the window, welcoming a fresh breeze.

"Jane." The warm voice called out, leaving her breathless.

A fresh tear rolled down Jane's cheek as she stood face to face with her old friend.

"Peter." She replied softly.

"Jane, why didn't you come back when you had the chance" He asked, voice barely above a whisper.

Jane sighed deeply and looked down, refusing to meet his eyes.

"I couldn't Peter, you knew that." She said, more tears threatening to fall.

"It's not too late," he started. "You can come back with me, right now."

Jane shook her head quickly.

She remembered the birds chirping, and the water splashing. The sun bursting with the brightest tinges of yellow. Children laughing, having fun.

The place where you never grew up.

"You can come back and be my queen. Just like we used to be." The boy clad in green encouraged.

Images of the fun times they used to spend together invaded her memory like a wildfire. The idea of their utopia being attainable again appealed to her. All the smiles and laughs that could be heard from miles away.

Peter reached his hand out to her, a bright smile on his face.

Jane harshly wiped the tear from her face and turned back towards her childhood friend. She extended her hand out to take his, linking their fingers.

"Just believe." Peter added, to which Jane nodded.

Her feet lifted off the ground as sparkles danced around her figure. She giggled as if she was a little girl again.

Before she knew it, she was flying. Out into the night sky, hand still wrapped within Peter's.

They flew over buildings and houses of all shapes and sizes, until they reached the place of much importance to them.

Neverland.

All imaginable colors decorated the sky, waterfalls and rainbows reached way up high.

"Welcome home." Peter said.

Soon all the colors faded to a deep green, then black, leaving not a single trace of magic.

The television screen cracked to life as a news segment began.

"The body of a young woman was found today in front of an apartment building on 11th street in the city. Police are asking for your help in identifying this Jane Doe"
