"So what's going on with you?" I asked my sister, her seated in the passenger seat beside me.
Ever since I picked her up, she has seemed super despondent, not quite paying attention to anything fully.
"I don't know. . ." She mumbled.
I watched her carefully.
"If there's anything you wanna talk about I'm here you know."
She sighed at my words.
"It's mom." She spoke softly.
My body froze. At those words I was reminded of the struggles I had living at that house and was worried for my sister.
"She doesn't understand shit!" Melanie screamed, losing her temper. "It's almost like she has never been in love before!"
I laughed softly.
"And dad is never home anymore. . .It's like I don't even exist." She muttered.
My heard broke for my baby sister.

I grabbed my phone from my pocket, looking at the text I had just received.

My heart warmed at Billie's text. The care that she had for not only me, but my family was astonishing.

I got another text from Billie but I decided to read it later, focusing my attention on Mel.
"And this boy. . .Tell me about him."
I had decided that changing the subject may have been a good idea to get her mind off of all the hormonal thoughts she was harvesting.
And that's what brought us giggling like school girls, laughing our asses off.
