Another Disastrous Dinner

Sky never ate lunch with us a week after the incident in the restaurant. She always sat with the theater kids now.

Hindi ko man aminin ay nagustuhan ko iyon.

I know she's nice girl but something about her just doesn't sit well with me. O baka ako lang iyon.

Elle and Doll even asked me if I had done something wrong with the girl to which I denied. In my defense, what I did back in the restaurant is not wrong. Telling the truth is never wrong.

Apart from that, it was a normal week. Time flew by so fast and a lot has happened. Isa't kalahating buwan nalang ay finals na namin for the first term. Hindi ko namalayan ay tatlong buwan na rin ang nakalipas simula ng unang araw ng klase. Just a month and a half and we would be done with the first semester. Parang kahapon lang ay padabog akong gumising ng maaga para sa first day of classes.

A lot has changed. I've met new people, punched people, helped people, made out with people...

People? Baka Phoenix kamo!

My subconscious self said.

I shook the thought off and just entered the house. It was the end of another day and my body is already missing my bed. Nothing really happened today except for a few gazes from Sky who I think was expecting us, or at least Elle and Doll, to ask her why she wasn't sitting with us anymore. I was actually surprised that both Elle and Doll didn't approach her. I was lowkey glad that they didn't though.

I also saw her approach Phoenix one time but the guy didn't even look at him. I felt slightly bad for her but the other part of me was contented that he didn't even glance at her for one bit.

Pity.

Phoenix hasn't been talking to me in the university but this time, I know why. I also became really conscious of my surroundings when he told me about her father's minions.

All my thoughts were erased right away when I felt my body touch the softness of my bed. I sighed in pleasure and let my muscles relax.

Hindi naman nagtagal ang pagkakahiga ko dahil biglang may kumatok sa pintuan.

"Saf, anak? Can I come in?" my mom asked from outside my room. I grunted not wanting to move from my comfortable spot. Pero kailangan kong pagbuksan ang aking ina kaya ay tumayo na rin ako ay binuksan ang pinto. My mom was still in her work clothes.

I noticed that her under eye circles were getting more prominent now and the lines on the side of her eyes are getting more noticeable too.

"Do you need anything?" I asked at mas binukas pa ang pintuan upang makapasok siya. She just smiled at me weakly and went inside my room. She sat on my bed and held her temples as if her head was aching.

"Are you okay, mom?" I asked. She just nodded.

"Come sit." She patted the space beside her.

"May sasabihin ka ba, mom?" I asked. She looked at me for a while without saying anything and sighed. May sumiklab naman na kaba sa aking loob kahit na wala namang rason. But my mom acting like this made me a little uneasy.

"Your Tita Lorena asked for a dinner, remember?" she said.

Oh. That. I remember that. Kaya nga ay hindi ulit ako sumama kela Doll at Elle sa uwian escapades nila dahil kailangan kong umuwi ng maaga.

"I do remember, ma. Ano pong meron?" I asked. Why was she acting like this? Ayaw niya bang makita ang amiga niya?

"Well, you're a smart girl. I know that your dad and Winter's parents think that you're compatible. I'm not saying that things are final but—" She stopped and looked at her fingers.
