Chapter 35

The Right Word

"Your mom sent you?" I asked while crossing my arms.

It was around 8AM in the morning when the doorbell rang. I went to get the door and was greeted by a man with ice blue hair. May dala siyang box ng cupcakes. He was in his uniform and was looking neat and well groomed for school.

"Yeah. She told me to hand these over. She also told me to fetch you so we could go to school together," he said. Binigay niya sa akin ang box ng cupcakes. Kinuha ko naman iyon sa kanya.

Tita Lorena just doesn't get it, does she?

"Didn't say I can't bring anyone with us though," dagdag niya. He glanced at his parked BMW kaya naman ay napatingin rin ako doon. Wala naman akong makita roon dahil heavily tinted ito. I squinted my eyes in an effort to see anything but the windows were almost pitch black from this angle.

Then the windows slid down revealing a woman sitting at the passenger seat. She waved in our direction while beaming. Napangiti naman ako.

"You brought Charlotte with you?" I asked, amused. He smiled then nodded.

"How rebellious," pang-aasar ko. He chuckled and shook his head.

I've only known Winter for a few months now but I know that Winter was never one to rebel against anyone. He's just too pure. I remembered how I became captivated with his easy smile the first time I saw him. He has always been a breed of an angel and a devil in my mind. He was devilishly handsome but ethereally kind-hearted. Just the right mix.

I found it hard to believe that my tiny crush on him whooshed away just like that as if he was not this gorgeous.

"Anyway, would you like to carpool with us instead?" he asked. I straightened my back. Napaisip ako. 

Maybe this is good? People would see me with both Winter and Charlotte. I don't know if the issue between me and Winter has already died down dahil nawala na rin ito sa isip ko but this is a good opportunity to prove those stupid gossip mongers wrong.

Besides, nakakatamad magdrive.

"Yeah, sure," I said then shrugged my shoulders.

"Do you wanna come in first? Breakfast?" pag-anyaya ko. He then looked back at his car.

"You can bring Charlotte too," sabi ko.

"Okay, sure. Breakfast sounds lovely," he said. 

Pinuntahan niya na si Charlotte. I, on the otherhand, asked a maid to prepare two more plates and handed her the box of cupcakes to put it on the fridge. Ako nalang ang mag-isa sa bahay apart from the maids. My parents are now at work samantalang 7AM naman ang pasok ni Saffron kaya ay kanina pa rin siya umalis.

Pinapasok ko naman na sila Winter. Charlotte was looking around the house and glanced the photos in the living room. My mom had placed a lot of family pictures by the couch. Mayroon rin kaming family picture na nakaframe at nakasabit sa may pader.

Charlotte hastily walked over to me but she still had a smile on her face. She was wearing a simple black shirt paired with denim jeans and white shoes ngunit may ID rin siyang suot. Her long wavy her was tied into a high ponytail. Mukhang papunta rin siyang school. I recognized the familiar name of the university written on the lace of her ID. Her school was a little further from my house than Mondragon.
