Chapter 25

Unexpected

I stayed rooted on my seat.

Phoenix has long gone to the kitchen to make us lunch ngunit yung utak ko ay mukhang nadala niya rin ata pagpunta niya doon.

He wanted to be with me?

But why?

We always fought every time we see each other.

I don't like this.

I don't like this because I think I feel the same way!

No way in hell!

Just because we opened up to each other doesn't mean we like each other! It was just a spur of the moment!

Pilit ko itong siniksik sa aking utak. I shook my head.

Why am I suddenly feeling these things?

I tried going back to what I was doing but the thought still lingered at the back of my mind.

I was eerily hypersensitive of the sounds coming from the kitchen.

Of all people, why him?!

I just continued typing on my laptop but I was not satisfied with my work. I was too distracted to come up with a nicer output. Di bale, ieedit ko nalang ito once I get home.

About an hour later, Phoenix came back and placed a bowl of an unfamiliar viand on the table and another bowl of rice. Umuusok pa ito.

"Let's eat?" he asked casually, as if he had not said anything weird a while ago. He sat on the chair opposite from mine. I closed my laptop and placed in on the empty seat next to me.

"You cook?" I asked. He nodded and got food for himself. I also started doing the same.

I'm just gonna play cool. It's not like he can read my mind.

Look cold, look as if you don't care. Just like you always do.

I tasted the viand and I swear it felt like I'm on cloud nine.

"What's this?" I asked, trying to hide my amazement. Ang sarap!

"Bicol Express," he said, eyeing me to see my reaction. I didn't give any and just continued eating like normal kahit na gusto kong sumubo ng sunod sunod dahil sa sarap ng niluto niya. It was the right amount of spicy. Despite not being a fan of spicy food, it didn't irritate me. I actually love it!

"It's not bad," I said and shrugged.

It's not just 'not bad'. It's amazing! I wouldn't tell him that, though. Knowing Phoenix, it'll go straight to his already inflated ego.

He also shrugged and just continued eating. I was about to protest and volunteer to wash the dishes but he was already washing it when I followed him to the kitchen. I just sat back to the dining area and finished my essays.

I saw from the corner of my eye that Phoenix was already done with the dishes. And has walked to the staircase that led upstairs. I was about done with my essays too.

Now that I'm in beachfront, might as well enjoy it.

I closed my laptop and stretched my arms after I had typed in my conclusion to my last essay. I stood up and got my bag and realized that I have no swimsuit nor extra shirts for me to swim! Ugh!
