Chapter 29 

A Girl and a Party

Monday came.

I dreadfully woke up on my bed a while ago. I didn't know why but I feel more comfortable sleeping in Phoenix' bed now more than mine.

Days passed by fast. Kailan lang ay nakasimangot pa akong pumasok sa aking klase during the first day of classes when Phoenix suddenly barged in looking like an angel assisting our old professor.

I smiled at the thought.

Something changed in my life after that day.

But one thing remained.

I still hate Mondays.

I sat in my usual seat in our Literature Class. I quietly waited for the professor and just scrolled through my phone. I came across my gallery. Pinindot ko ito at tumambad sa akin ang pictures namin ni Phoenix nung Sabado. I handed Andrew my phone and my purse when Nay Selma pulled us to dance kasama ang mga matatandang mag-asawa.

We were just laughing the whole time.

My gallery were filled with photos of that. Siguro ay pinicturan kami ni Andrew gamit ang phone ko noong pinabantayan ko ito sa kanya.

Mayroong picture doon where Phoenix had his right arm on my waist while he stared at me, smiling. Habang ako naman ako tumatawang nakatingin sa isang matandang mag-asawa na sumasayaw ng ocho ocho. My eyes were barely open dahil sa pagtawa ko.

I smiled.

That night, we went to sleep almost immediately dahil sa pagod.

The next day, maaga palang ay umalis na kami ng Batangas. Phoenix had a phone call which turned his mood around completely. I'm guessing it's his father.

He never confirmed who it was but based on the foul mood he was in after the phone call, iyon lang ang tangi kong naiisip.

Nang makauwi ako, I felt guilty for lying to my mom but I felt relieved knowing that she had no idea where I really was.

Narinig ko ang pagbukas ng pinto. I looked up and expected somebody else but was shocked to see a familiar face come inside the room. The first thing I noticed was her familiar stance and smile.

She studies here?

She timidly glanced at the classroom. Maybe to see where she could sit. Her eyes landed on me and she smiled widely in recognition.

She walked up to me with a smile.

"It's you!" she said. I fought the urge to roll my eyes.

Great, she's like Madolle. Too cheery in the morning.

"Can I sit here?" I was supposed to say no but the professor went in the classroom kaya naman ay dali dali siyang naupo sa tabi ko. 

Napatingin naman ako sa paligid ko upang hanapin ang seatmate ko. 

Winter his never late. Phoenix, on the other hand, is late more often than not kaya hindi na nakapagtataka na wala pa siya.

After twenty minutes, wala pa rin ang dalawa. 

Napatingin ako sa may pinto.

Hindi ba sila papasok?

The whole class, my seatmate tried to talk to me but I shut her off by replying short replies. She was animatedly talking about how she got lost earlier and saw a cute guy so she asked him for directions.
