Chapter 41

Robbers and Stars

"You need to talk to him," ang huling sabi ni Winter nang ihatid niya ako sa isang pamilyar na condominium.

My legs felt like they're made of jelly when I got off his car.

I mindlessly walked through the lobby and presented a gold card Phoenix has given me the last time I was here. Para raw madali akong makapasok without the receptionist calling him. Despite the card, I still had to present an ID para na rin makasigurado silang nasa listahan ako ng mga binigyan ng ganoon na card. It was understandable though, because the people who lives here are from the higher class and their safety are prioritized.

It didn't take long before I was riding the elevator and making my way to the 40th floor.

I look like a mess. My hair was sticking out in an unattractive way and my whole face is pale. I look like I hadn't been out in the sun for days. I just sighed and fixed the tangles on my hair, using the reflective wall of the elevator as my mirror.

I almost jumped when the elevator dinged signaling that I have reached my destination. I walked out of it and looked for the familiar unit. I remained there staring at the door.

How am I supposed to tell him everything?

This week has just been so draining. Physically and emotionally. I have never been so tired my entire life. I have never been this drained.

I heaved out a sigh and decided to just walk away. I don't think I can handle telling him what has been happening to me and my family without bursting out into tears. I don't think I have the guts to tell him that I might be marrying someone else.

Just as I was about to veer away from his unit, I heard the door clicked.

I, then, locked eyes with someone I wished to see but also wished to not see at the same time.

"Safira?" he called out. My name rolled of his tongue like honey. Suave and smooth. He looked like he was about to go somewhere because he was wearing his casual clothes. He looked just as dashing and handsome as the last time I saw him.

At that moment, all I wanted was to run to him and give him a hug. But my feet seemed to have gotten stuck at the sight of him.

Thankfully, he didn't waste his time. He took huge strides towards me and grabbed me, pulling me in for a tight, bone-crushing hug. My hands immediately found its way to his neck and clambered on it like my life depended on his hold.

I leaned onto him like a lifeline. His warm body melded with my frigid ones. At this point, how can I even let go of him?
