About two years after the events of book 10

When Robin was only half a year old, she didn't think anything bad could happen in the town of Sanctuary, especially under the eye of it's founder, Winter. Boy was she wrong. She was sitting in the living room, happily colouring in a colouring scroll, her mother watching her. Her father was somewhere else in the house. She didn't like her father much. He was always rude towards her, and blamed her for things her mother had done. She could smell a faint whiff of smoke as she began colouring a scavenger picture. Robin's mom left her side, probably to go cook dinner. As she finished colouring the pale skin on the creature, the smell of smoke was stronger. Robin shrugged it off. But as she reached for a brown pencil to colour the scavenger's mane of fur, she heard her mother scream.

"Fire! FIRE!" Her mother yelled as she raced around the corner that led to the bedrooms. Her mother scooped Robin up in her talons and raced toward the door. As they reached it, Robin saw the corner of a flame peek around from the corner her mom had just come from. Her mother continued to shout "fire" as they raced down to the road at the end of their  front lawn. By now, some of the flames had started burning through the roof. Within minutes, all the IceWings in Sanctuary and a couple of other dragons carrying buckets of water came to help put out the fire. As the IceWings blasted the flames with frostbreath, Robin burst into tears. Her house, her home, was gone. The fire had spread quickly, so by the time the IceWings had gotten there, half the place had been ablaze. As soon as the fire had been reduced to smoldering embers, Winter, the founder of Sanctuary, came over to tell her mom he was sorry and that they will find the family a new home.

"Did you see my husband? Did he escape?" Robin's mother asked.

"No, I haven't seen him," Winter replied.

As the two talked, Robin noticed an IceWing dragonet about her age wandering around, looking for his mom. He had bluish white scales, white horns, and a moon silver underbelly. He looked really worried, as if he was scared his mom had been burned alive in the fire. It was then that another IceWing came racing around the charred wreckage of the house, spotted the small IceWing dragonet, and picked him up. She looked almost exactly like the dragonet. The only difference was that her horns were a darker shade of blue then the rest of her body. She was also young, too. She looked only eight or nine, only just full grown.

"Mommy!" The young IceWing shouted.

The young female lifted the dragonet up and pressed her snout against his. Then, she let him go. He wandered over to his mother's tail and walked behind her as she walked. It took Robin a moment to notice that the young mother was walking towards them. Still in her mother's arms, Robin pressed herself closer to her mother's body. The female tapped Winter on the shoulder, who was talking with Robins mom about were they could stay. She whispered something to him and they both turned away from the two SkyWings to chat privately. After a moment, the young female turned and took another step toward Robins mom.

"If you need a place to stay, you can stay at my house. I have a bit of extra room at my place, and me and Chill would be delighted to have you," she said.

"Um, maybe. Can we get a tour first though?" Robins mother replied.

"Okay, follow me," The female IceWing turned to leave.

"Wait," Robins mom reached out one of her bright red talons, the same colour of Robins underbelly, and touched the IceWing's shoulder. "I want to stay here and try to find my husband first."

"Oh, okay,"  the IceWing tapped her claws together nervously. "I totally understand."

Robins mom pulled her toward what was left of their house. The two called out for Robins dad while poking through the ashes. They had no luck. It was then that they heard another dragon let out a loud gasp. A SeaWing, who had come to help search the house for anything that might have survived, was brushing ashes off of something with his talons. As they took a closer look, they realized it was a charred, half open dragon wing. As they helped the SeaWing, more dragons came to help. When the body was uncovered, Robin's mom inspected it. The only part of the body that wasn't charred, was a small patch of scales on the dragons side. The same color as Robin's. Her mom let out a sob as she realized who the dragon was. Robin turned away. As much as she didn't like her dad, she still didn't want to see his dead body lying on the ground like that. Robin leaned into her mother's side and her mom picked her up. Together they walked back to the female IceWing.
