"Oh, hello," Chill replied, staring at the new dragon. "I'm Chill," He continued washing his scales, scrubbing the gaps in between them.

"So, nice place, isn't it? I just moved here, like, a week ago. I live on the other side of town. Very friendly dragons, this place has," Slush smiled. Her snow white scales shone even more as she bounded into the water next to him.

"Ya, this is a really nice town. I've lived here my whole life, me and my mom," Chill couldn't help the grin spread over his own face. Slush's storm grey eyes looked over Chill's light blue and silver scales before returning to his own blue eyes. She had a splatter of small grey freckles dotting her rounded snout, as well as silver talons.

"Oh, I've lived in the ice kingdom my whole life. My mom was pretty high ranked, but my dad didn't care about ranking so much. I've always been closer to my dad, so me and him started to slowly drag her down the ranking board. This was all last year, by the way. So, my mom and dad got into this huge argument, like, guards were knocking on the door to tell my parents to shut up huge. So, my dad and I ran away. My mom stayed behind to improve her rank. She doesn't care about me, so she didn't care my dad took me with him. After a few months of living in this tiny town farther south, my dad got permission from the queen to move here. and here we are," Slush didn't seem bothered from this large twist in her life, shrugging her shoulders, grinning.

"Oh, wow," Chill sat there with a slightly shocked look. "So, um, what's the ice kingdom like? I'm supposed to be going there in three weeks for the first time for vacation."

"It's really boring," Slush exclaimed. "It's just ice and snow and white and blue everywhere you look. And you always have to worry about your rank. And don't forget all the BORING MILITARY TRAINING STUFF," she pointed to and made a motion with her mouth to simulate throwing up. "Nothing like here. This place is so bright and colourful. And you can be as loud and friendly and playful as you want. And you don't even get yelled at for an hour for pranking someone. An angry glare is a huge improvement. I love it here. So," she grinned harder "You want to go find somewhere else to chat? I know a great spot in the forest."

Chill looked up at the sky. To his surprise, the sun had set without him knowing. Only a few remaining orange streaks lay on the horizon.

"I'm so sorry, but I have to go," Chill felt a strange sadness in his chest. he wanted to stay here, with this dragon. But he knew his mother would kill him if he did. "I have to get back home. It's already past my curfew and my mom is probably wondering where I am." He got up to leave, but Slush put a talon on his shoulder, stopping him.

"Why don't you just stay out. My dad thinks I'm in my room sleeping right now. Just pretend to go to bed, wait a few minutes, and sneak out your window. I do it all the time. I can even come with you and keep watch. I'll tap on your window when it's all clear."

"... alright," Chill was worried his mother would open his door to find him gone, but then again, when was the last time she ever did come in after saying goodnight? "I'll show you where my house is."

"Chill..." a soft voice called from his window, followed by some light taps. A white head, illuminated by something out of his view, poked itself through the window. "Let's go."

"Coming," Chill whispered, getting up. He made sure his decoy, a white blanket folded into the shape of a small sleeping dragon tucked under other blankets, was tucked in a way that made it look like him. Then he climbed out the window. Slush handed him a small moon globe. "I smuggled some back with me," she chuckled.

"I have one in my light," Chill pointed to the diamond shaped light that hung down on his ceiling. "There aren't that many around here. My mom knows a RainWing who has them imported from the rainforest, they have a tree there, but other then that, they aren't anywhere," the two continued talking as they flew off back to the lake. But this time, the pair headed to the forest near the lake. They built a quick fort out of sticks and then told each other spooky stories. They played tag and hide and seek. Near the end of the night, the two went for a swim. The three moons were out, one almost full, one half full, and one a little bigger then a sliver. All three cast a beautiful glow over the water as the two young dragonets splashed and played and dove in the water. Chill, as tired as he was, was kept awake by the thrill of hanging out with his new friend.

At one point, Slush spread her wings and launched herself into the air. Chill, feeling playful, followed her, smacking into her and sending them both tumbling into one of the deeper parts of the lake. Chill, who had been closing his eyes as they hit the water, opened them a few seconds later to find himself wrapped up with Slush. She was shooting a mischievous grin at him, and he realized the tip of his snout was pressed against hers. Chill could feel himself blushing, his face becoming hot, despite the cold water around him. Slush was laughing. Chill pushed himself away from her, and they both surfaced.

"You have some nerve," Slush gave Chill a sly look. Chill, without thinking, took her front talon in his.

"I know," he replied as he pushed his snout against hers again, testing her limits. Some instinct had taken over his body. Without a word, he kissed her.
