"Okay, lets go!" Lilypad chirped, as Chill showed up. She had a weird feeling in her gut, telling her to say goodbye to her siblings, so she hugged them all before she left. Probably just paranoia. Nothing could go wrong with this evening.

"Yes, to the forest!" Chill exclaimed, picking her up and tossing her into the air, which wasn't high at all, and she came crashing back onto him. After a moment of laughter, they flew off for real. They were going hunting, just for fun. Chill brought a large sack with him, and so did Lily.

The two chased rabbits and dove after birds, laughing to each other. They didn't catch much, but they were having fun. After they took a break, snacking on half a rabbit each, they resumed hunting.

"It's going to get dark soon, hun. We should wrap it up," Lily noted to Chill.

"Right, I knew that," Chill grinned at her. A grin that said he didn't know that, but didn't want to seem ignorant. They stopped at a river, catching fish for the rest of their time together.

"I should go soon," Chill exclaimed soon after. Too soon after.

"Okay. Drop off the food at our hut. The other MudWing family there will enjoy free food," Lily grinned.

The five siblings shared a small hut with another MudWing family, who mostly were grown up and could pay for the place. That family consisted of four female dragons and two males. The two sets of siblings were good friends.

"I will," Chill replied, giving her a small hug. That same paranoia feeling returned, and, as a surprise to both her and Chill, she kissed him.

Lilypad had never kissed anyone before. It was strangely magical.

"Okay, then. See ya," Chill said, pulling away after a moment, right before he took off.

"Bye," Lily called. She decided to sit by the river some more, enjoying the sound of the water.

It must have been at least an hour later when she heard a rustling in the bushes. She snapped her head up. It was dark, almost too dark to see, but she saw the outline of something covered in fur.

"Hello," she whispered, breathing a small plume of flame. She jumped at the sight of a large, aggressive looking bear glaring right at her.

Lily screamed, leaping into the air and trying to take off. She didn't notice the outline of the tree branches above her. The jolt of suddenly slamming head-first into a large branch made Lily momentarily stop flapping her wings, which was a bad move on her part, as she fell into the river.

The current was strong, And kept dragging her down as she tried to struggle up to escape. It finally, after quite a bit of tossing her around, sucked her under one last time, and Fling her into a large buildup of sticks and logs.

Water blasted her body, pinning her against the pile, or rather, a small alcove in the pile. She managed to get one talon through a gap, feeling the cool night air, but she knew she wouldn't get out of this. Even if she could make a hole wide enough to escape, she wouldn't have enough time. It would take more then an hour to get herself free. She tried anyways, punching and tugging at the wood until her talons bled, but she only made the hole wide enough for half her arm to fit through.

As her chest began to burn, she thought about her family, about being teased for being the smallest and weakest of the five, about all the good moments and bad moments and all the moments in between. She thought about her three brothers and one sister, about all the things she liked and disliked about each of them. She thought the same about Chill and Robin as well. And she thought about herself too, all her dreams and goals and ambitions, all of which she would never get to experience. She thought about all the possible ways she would have preferred to die, never imagining this was the way she was leaving the world. She had always imagined dying heroically, saving her siblings or a friend, or even a random stranger. And all at a much older age, too. She had always imagined a statue, or plaque sitting in front of a monumental tree, displaying a quick message of her heroic act, and that she would be missed.

She fought against the water with her last bit of strength, struggling to get through the hole, until her body was swarmed with pain from lack of oxygen. She fought, screaming, until the world faded to black and she slipped into a sort of sleep she would never wake up from.
