Feeling the best you had since Minhyuk had met his unfortunate fate you made your way home, being met with your frustrated parents the moment you entered your house.

"Darling, you could at least have messaged us you'd be late home" your mother scolded you. You father crossed his arms over his chest.

"what's your excuse? Did you find one already?" he asked. You shook your head.

"I just found a friend. We were hanging out and lost track of time, sorry."
Your mother touched the hoodie you still had on, but didn't say anything about it.

"Don't get too attached. You know what happened last time. There's food in the fridge, you should do some schoolwork and get some rest. Your father and I will be out hunting tonight and probably won't be home until the morning. The full moon is coming up, you know?"
You nodded, thankful you didn't have to come with them, before making your way towards the kitchen to grab something to eat.

The worry that you'd have to kill once again when you came back slowly subsided as you spent more time with Jin and his friends. Before you knew it weeks had passed. You liked his friends, but they didn't talk to you unless they had to. Jin stayed loyal though, doing anything in his power to not leave you without friends or alone.
Your parents reminded you several times not to get too attached, not completely trusting your instincts but knowing better than pulling him away from you without any proof. It was different this time though, you told yourself. You had never caught feelings for Minhyuk in the two years you had known him, but now after just a few weeks of spending time with Jin, you felt your heart beat faster every time his hand brushed against yours. Every time he smiled, you couldn't help but smile, every time he seemed concerned or upset you would do anything in your power to cheer him up.

This got you into a fight with your parents.

"You're distracted," they said. "You should be focusing on your studies and helping us map out the wolf packs. You know this is our legacy, this is our job. To make sure no humans get hurt. To protect our kind. Friends distract you, and you seem like you're not even trying to get close to anyone else."

You told them to be patient, acting like you had a plan. You didn't. You wanted to have a normal life as a normal student. Jin was your best friend and you didn't want to go around forcing yourself to associate with other people just to see if you'd have to kill them or hand them over to your parents with their murderous mission.
After one particularly stiff dinner with your parents, you found yourself unable to sleep, so you texted Jin to see if he'd like to meet up. He was as always down, and you sent him the address to a bar close to your house that you enjoyed hiding away at before climbing out through your window.
You were sitting at the bar counter, a drink you weren't sure exactly what it was in your hands. The bartender had made it for you after you told him you wanted something that tasted good but calmed your nerves. It did taste good.

"Is that your pyjamas?" Jin laughed from behind you. You turned to him and couldn't help but shoot him a smile.

"Yeah" you chuckled back, patting the chair next to you. He called the bartender over to ask him to make whatever you were having for him too.

"Are you okay?" he asked. You sighed rested your chin in your palm.
