You swiftly flew up from Jin's lap, slipping out of his grip as you placed yourself in front of him. At this point, Jin could probably smell the stress you radiated.

"Y/N's friend is still over, they had a school assignment to work on." you heard Minho lie after opening the front door. To your dismay, your father's only response was,

"Tell him to stay and eat dinner with us. We'd like to finally meet this boy. It's this Seokjin guy right?"

Jin grasped your hand leaning over to press his lips to your ear.

"Relax. They don't know." he reminded you.

"Know what?" your mother asked. Damn her good hearing. She was like a vulture, almost having as good hearing as the wolves she brutally hunted for a living. You shocked yourself by even daring to think such things within her vicinity. It wasn't like she could read thoughts but... One could never be too sure. Jin stuttered at your side, unable to answer as your mother stared him down with her infamous critical gaze. You, on the other hand, was ready to do almost anything to stop her from finding out about Jin's true nature.

No repetitions of the past.

"He's not my friend" you awkwardly answered, squeezing his hand. Your mother furrowed her brows. "I was unsure if you'd be okay with it but we're... In love. Uhm.. Ah, he's my boyfriend"

Apparently, this seemed convincing enough... For the time being. You glanced at Jin to make sure he was alright with your lie, half expecting him to act weird about your sudden declaration. He didn't. Your mother nodded, exchanging her cold expression with a softer one as she clapped her hands together.

"Well, let's all eat them. We brought takeout."

What followed was an hour of sly comments and unapproving looks from your parents, despite them not speaking out loud about their dislike of Jin. It was an awful hour. You were barely able to listen to what the others were saying and only managed to strain your ears when picking up on suspicious questions.

"What does your family do?" Your father asked as he sipped his beverage, eyeing Jin. Jin chewed and swallowed politely before answering in a calm voice.

"My father is a high ranked businessman so his work demands he live in the city, my mother used to own a cafe here but she shut it down and moved to help him. I grew up with my grandfather in the outskirts of town."

Almost everyone around the table had finished eating, or at least was close to done. You did your best trying to stay calm because you didn't want to accidentally rub off your worry on Jin which would distract him. Maybe he knew about you being hunters, but he didn't know why you were hunters. He didn't know the one thing that made you a successful lineage in the hunting community. Now that he seemed to be the calm one of the two of you, you wanted to keep it that way.

"He seems nice. I still think you're too young to date but I suppose if it makes you happy we'll let it slip. For now." Your mother said, standing up to show she was ready to leave. Your father followed, and so did Minho.

"I'll drive you home. There are some things I need to discuss with you." Minho told them. They nodded and accepted it, quickly making their last goodbyes without sparing you another glance and then promptly leaving the apartment, the air in the room feeling strange.

"Hey, I'm... Sorry about saying that whole in love thing i hope it wasn't weird I just-"

Your phone buzzed, sending you flying up in the air with a shriek. Jin could not stop laughing at this, not even when you gave him a pouty glare.

Brother Dearest: I'll let you sort things out with your pup before coming back home. Seems like he passed the parent test xoxo

"This asshole I swear-" you muttered, turning to look at the still quietly laughing wolf. You showed him the message and was about to rant to Jin about how your brother probably had planned it all along when your best friend snatched you up in his arms with his superhuman strength, snuggling his face against your neck. Your cheeks grew warm. For some reason you still had it in the back of your head that at any moment Jin might just friendzone you again like he had at the bar when you had kissed him.

"I'm sorry I'm not very good at these kinds of things." his lips moving tickled your skin and you did your best to wrap your arms around him back in a non-awkward way. "I said my grandfather raised me. It's that side of my family that made me what I am and he's always been very... traditional"

He struggled to get out what he wanted to say. "For some reason I thought maybe you would know by now that I like you back even though I've been bad at showing it... I... My grandfather always used to talk down on humans and especially hunters and I didn't think it stuck with me but it must have and I'm sorry if I've been unclear. I never thought I would mate with a human and I just... I like you back... I need you to know that, that's all I guess"

He trailed off after blurting out his thoughts and feelings. You moved to let your feet touch the ground, hands brushing over his arms. Your chest felt tight as if your heart was going to explode at the way he said "mate".

"if anyone knows about family traditions clashing with your emotions it's me. I get it, Jin. And you don't have to say it back unless you're ready but... I do love you" you softly answered. "But I need to tell you something too. Something about my family." You answered, patting his head gently. You tried to keep your feet on the ground to turn and face him properly but instead he lifted you up further to carry you over to your bedroom. He almost accidentally walked into the bathroom, but you steered him in the right direction with a giggle.

He put you down on the bed and snuggled up next to you, nose still brushing against your skin. His way of showing affection had become more and more wolf-like and you enjoyed it. It was sweet that he felt he could be himself when being close to you like that.

"If my family were normal hunters I wouldn't be as scared of them finding out about you. But they're not. There's a reason why my brother is always the favorite. It's not only because I don't want to hurt your kind. It's... there's a gene passed down to the children of our family that makes us stronger, faster, better in any way that could be seen as... beneficial to hunters."

You reached out and placed your palm on Jin's cheek. "I don't have it." you mumbled. "I- We don't talk about it openly but I overheard them talk about... my mother being unfaithful which makes me... Not worthy of bearing the family name. They didn't want anyone to know. That's why they're forcing me to become a hunter. That's why I'm so scared of being an outsider. Because I have been different and an outsider since I was born."

"Y/N L/N. You are amazing." was all Jin said, gently placing his plump lips onto your eyelids, instinctively making you close your eyes. "Let me make you forget about your worries for tonight and prove to you that I... Love you as you are. Now that your brother isn't here. Will you let me do that?"

You nodded, feeling intoxicated by him, as he shuffled to move on top of you, placing another soft kiss, this time, onto your lips. He took his time, unlike when he had been in heat. Letting his lips barely graze your skin, only sucking lightly as he reached your neck. His hands gripped your shirt, pulling it over your head. His breath felt nice on your skin and sent shivers down your spine as he reached the mark he had placed on you. He took his sweet time, one arm wrapping around your waist underneath you and pulling you up so your chest touched his.

"I'm sorry I didn't ask you first. I was so caught up in the moment, all I could think about was wanting to make you mine. To mark you as mine. To make sure no other shifter could claim you" his voice was about as smooth as his touches.

"i wish you would have asked me first" you whispered barely audible, but audible enough for the one with supernatural hearing to pick up on it.
As much as you hated the thought of belonging to someone, the thought of being seen as an object that could be possessed, remembering that it was the highest level of affection a wolf could show made you feel warm on the inside. Even though he hesitated on the word love, he had already told you in his own way.
"I was already yours before. Kim Seokjin, you should have ran when you could. i won't be able to let you go now. "

Jin nipped on your neck, teeth pressing against the skin but not hard enough to pierce it. He removed his face from the canvas he had made out of your body and looked up at you through dark lashes with gentle golden eyes.

"Do you want me to go?" he asked. You let a heavy breath slip past your lips as his hands trailed over your forearms. The next words you let out wasn't something you had thought about, but when you uttered them you could feel in your chest how true they were.

"No. I want to be with you. Maybe forever."
