The moment you and Jin walked into school holding hands, you caught sight of Mahiro. You dragged Jin over to her, grabbing her hand with your free one.
"I need to talk to you," you said seriously, meeting her eyes with a sigh. "My brother told me you and your family have been MIA for quite some time so either you're lying to me or you're lying to me. I need an explanation."
"You're going to make me seem like the bad guy in front of your boyfriend?" she tilted one eyebrow up with an unbothered look on her face. You let go of Jin, who at this point was very confused and settled for standing back and watching as you trapped her against the lockers with your body. When it became apparent you weren't going to speak she sighed, looked down and decided to speak up.
"I didn't lie about anything. I just... needed your help even though talking to you was the last thing I wanted. Your family's decisions led to the murder of mine. And I wanted your help to take your parents down because I know you cared for Minhyuk... and you care for them" she pointed one finger towards Jin as she spoke in a low voice, avoiding your eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"I fucking loved Minhyuk, okay? Our parents had a deal. Minhyuk was off limits because I loved him and you had him. But your family broke that deal and my parents were pissed off. They, we, wanted to ruin you. But your family are good at what you do for a reason huh?"
You wanted to throw up. Of course, your family killed her family. It's the same as always.
"How about we call a proper meeting after school. You, me, Jin and his pack and my brother. Mahiro I'm sorry. I-"
"Don't apologise. I know you shot him, but I also know you loved him. It's hard to grow up as one of us. Let's just figure this out."
Hunter or werewolf, there was still an immense difference between the two worlds they had to keep balanced. Teenagers going to literature and psychology classes learning about white men that had been dead for ages and having lunch together whilst talking about lighthearted subjects like books and tv-shows on weekdays could be the same teenagers sitting around a table those same evenings planning on how to put people behind bars for murders they had brainwashed and encouraged others, their children, to perform.
The vague outlines of such a plan were made, Minho surprisingly enough agreeing on helping. Everyone knew their part and wanted to act upon it as soon as possible.
When the day for the plan to be set in motion came however, things began badly. Then, they only spiralled down further.
Well, not everything began badly. You woke up next to Jin in your bedroom at Minho's apartment. He was drawing shapes on your skin as he waited for you to wake up, gently dragging the tips of his fingers over your arms and chest.
You watched his distracted expression before surprising him with a kiss. He hadn't noticed you waking up. It was safe to say you were all nervous. It was a simple plan. Maybe way too simple. Some of the cops in town were well-known hunters, and one wrong move and everything would be ruined. The fact that Jimin had planned on meeting up with Sungmin that weekend and still had the texts as receipts to show was helpful; he'd be a good fake witness. Minho and you would back him up by saying you were having a movie night at your parents home and could testify your parents went out. It was a rough plan, but it wasn't usual for werewolves, or hunters for that matter, to go to the law for help when fighting over something. Usually, the fights ended a bit more bloody than that.
Minho and Jin bickered as they both tried to make breakfast in the kitchen but had different opinions on how to do things, and you sat on a chair watching them whilst trying to hold back giggles. This was the happiest you had been in years.
Mahiro showed up later at the doorstep of the apartment. She'd be taking up the murder of her own parents in case Jimin's false witnessing wouldn't be enough. She was back to the annoying person she had been when first introducing herself. She once again asked about how it was sleeping with a lycanthrope and now that you knew she had been in love with Minhyuk you felt even more weird about answering that somehow. You told her to focus.
