Chapter 29 | Texting

The weeks have gone by after I spend a whole night chatting with Sebastian. It got even to the point where we both forgot about the time and when we realised we were forgetting about it, it was already half past one in the early morning. I did not allow Sebastian to drive back to his apartment that he had in Milton Keynes. Not only because it was late, but also we both had more than one glass of wine and I didn't want to be responsible if something happened. Even when he was a professional driver. I had an extra bed, however, I didn't mention it to him back then, mostly because I secretly wanted his arms around me again like that morning before all the drama had started. He accepted my offer to stay and we actually did cuddle in bed while I slowly started to dove off into my dreams.

It thankfully didn't stop there though. I knew Sebastian had a busy schedule between racing and being at the factory or doing some PR stuff. Therefore I didn't expect for us to be texting so much as we did these few weeks. It wasn't just a small conversation between the two of us about how we were doing and what we were doing that day. No, our conversation always went further than that. Sometimes you had to wait a bit longer for a response back as Seb obviously was busy with his schedule and me being at work, but it was worth it as it always put on a smile on my face every time I check my phone and I see that he had texted me back. We talked a lot about the races he had done and me always trying to ask him if he this time had seen anything from the country that he was in. He mostly answered with no, but always sent a message right after the no with telling me he would love to do that with me. It always brought butterflies into my stomach. I was really turning back into a teenager with being so distracted from my work as I was or keeping my phone close by me, afraid of missing a text from Seb. It kind of was ridiculous as I never was like this with Josh. But I just couldn't help myself.

Currently, it was a Monday evening. I was laying down on the couch with the television on and playing back an episode of Little Britain. I wasn't paying that much attention to the television as I had a few times where my eyes started to close from the tiredness of work. However, the sound of my ringtone that told me I had a message on my phone, made me suddenly be wide awake. I picked up my phone that was laying on my stomach and looked at the message that was of course from Sebastian.

From Seb:
Hey, what'ya doing?
I'm currently at the airport. Going to Monza early,

I immediately started to type a reply back.

To Seb:
Hi, nothing much tbh. I'm watching your favourite show though.
How come you're leaving so soon?

From Seb:
Have some meetings before everyone else is coming on Wednesday.

My lips started to curl up by his fast reply to my text message. I read the message twice before I slowly started to type another text to him. He sometimes liked to be so mysterious about his meeting. It felt to me like he wanted me to ask further, which I always did anyway. I was typing a message that said how mysterious he was doing and was currently just looking for the winky eye emoji, when I saw him typing too with the three dots that kept moving under his name. He sent a message before I could send my text and I even deleted mine when I saw text behind text coming through that made me look at my phone with surprise.

From Seb:
And now that we actually are on this topic, I had a question for you.
I know you have work and stuff, but I would love for you to finally come to a race to actually just enjoy it as yourself.
And not as Maureen :P

To Seb:
You mean to the race in Monza?

From Seb:
Yeah. Should I have asked you weeks before? I could call your work and tell them it's really important.

I looked at the message he just sent and couldn't help but bite my lip as I was thinking about my response. From the inside, I was really excited that he just invited me to a race to watch him. But I did had work and it wasn't like I could just call in sick, right? I couldn't do that... Could I?

From Seb:
Please tell me you come! I have already booked your plane ticket and got your passes to get into the paddock and the garage.
Well okay, Britta arranged it. But you HAVE TO COME

To Seb:
How many days do I have to call in sick?

I send the reply to Seb with my eyes closed, making me not go back with my decision that I just made. Dad was gone to America to do some businesses and he would stay there for another two weeks, so he wasn't the problem. It was mostly my uncle, Joe that treats me still like a little girl when I call in sick. He always calls my mom to check if I really was sick, not that she knew the answer to that as I didn't live at home anymore. But it was something that Joe did, always.

From Seb:
Hahah, naughty.
I guess you will be having the flu from Thursday to Friday the next week.

To Seb:
That long?

From Seb:
I want to spend time with you after the race if you like of course.

I smiled at my phone as I pushed my head back on to the armrest of the couch. The funny feeling in my stomach made me close my eyes for a second as I enjoyed this warm feeling I was getting from only just a text message. I opened my eyes again and started to write a response back.

To Seb:
I'd love to. Are we staying in Monza after the race?

From Seb:
Mmh, I'll keep that one as a surprise for you ;)
I gotta go. I'll make sure you get your plane ticket on time.
Can't wait to see you on Thursday night. Good night.

To Seb:
Okay fine. I'll let myself get surprised for once.
Good night. Can't wait to be having the flu for a whole week x (:

From Seb:
Me neither, but don't worry. I will take care of you. x

I couldn't help but grin at his response. I placed my phone back to my stomach and looked back again to the television. Suddenly Little Britain had changed into some advertisement, making it a good moment to leave this couch and actually also go to bed. When I made sure everything was closed and all the lamps were out I had made my way fast into my empty bed where I was already imagining the whole week with Seb.
