"Hey, was that boiled?" Taya called over, watching the girl Cassandra, who was know to shortcut her tasks, dump a pail into the water station, freezing when she heard Taya's call, a look of guilt washing over her face. "Boil it for three minutes." Taya growled at her, the look in her eyes causing Cassandra apologize profusely.
Taya was edge these days, feeling like a baby sitter to a hundred incompetent children. Wells had been murdered, right outside of camp a few days ago, and since then they'd been busting their asses to build walls and produce weapons, fear pushing people to their limits.
"After, trade with someone carrying logs." Taya dismissed Cassandra cruelly, giving her one of the worst jobs on campus. The system Taya set up was simple, good behavior; good duties, bad behavior; bad duties.
Cassandra nodded shamefully, taking the punishment without a peep as Taya walked over to approach Murphy and Bellamy, seeing Murphy doing a debrief.
"This section should be finished by tomorrow." Murphy reported. Bellamy nodded at the news, but Taya frowned. Taya knew they were doing all they could, but it still never felt like enough.
As Taya went to suggest they work an hour after dark tonight, a guy walking by collapsed, the log he was carrying being too heavy as it clattered to the ground, the guy falling to his knees. Murphy, lead enforcer, stepped forward instantly.
"Hey! You think the grounders are just gonna sit around and wait for us to finish the wall? Maybe we should let the little girl do the lifting for you, huh?" Murphy mocked the guy, gesturing to where Charlotte stood, tying some sticks together.
"I just need some water, ok? Then I'll be fine." The guy said. Taya hit Bellamy's coat and he shot her a half hearted annoyed look before stepping forward.
"Murphy, get this guy some water. Hey, you got this?" Bellamy asked Charlotte as he stepped forward. She moved towards it but Bellamy stopped her. "I'm just kidding." They shared a smile before Bellamy hoisted it onto his shoulder and walked off, Taya not so discreetly checked him out as he walked away.
Taya looked away at the sound of an unamused scoff, seeing Cayden stood over her shoulder, having caught the look she'd been giving him.
"What?" She asked innocently.
"Nothing." He rolled his eyes, hiding his annoyance. Taya didn't give it any thought anyway as she heard someone's zipper unzip and she whipped around, at this point she was trained to do so because of all the people too scared to leave the walls to piss. She let out a yell as she saw Murphy's manhood and threw her hands up to block that sight from her poor, poor eyes.
"Uhh! What the hell is wrong with you, Murphy?" The guy yelled. Taya was shocked that Murphy actually relieved himself on the poor guy's back. The guy stood up and pushed Murphy before two of Murphy's friends pushed him back.
"You wanted a water break." Murphy said smugly and the guy broke through Murphy's friends and went towards Murphy but Taya stopped him.
"Hey, Listen, you'll take her job getting water, she'll show you to the river where you can wash your jacket, drink there. Murphy Minions, get back to work. Micro-penis, you get to build the wall till she gets back." Taya ordered and Murphy clenched his jaw tightly but did as she ordered and his guys took off, worried they'd get a worse punishment.
Murphy hit Taya's shoulder as he passed before helping lift some logs.
"Get back to work!" Taya yelled at the rest of the crowd and they quickly obeyed.

Taya ducked into the tent behind Octavia, who'd beckoned her. Taya froze at the heavy atmosphere which she quickly understood when she saw what they were gathered around. Two Wells colored fingers and a knife, one Taya recognized.
