It had been a headache and an upward battle to get what she wanted, but Taya was with Lincoln and Bellamy as Lincoln cut open a deer.
Bellamy was looking at Taya unhappily as Taya watched the surrounding woods.
"You shouldn't be here." Bellamy complained for the thousandth time.
"Yeah, yeah. I've heard it all before." Taya brushed him off. After a moment Bellamy sighed and crouched down next to Lincoln.
"Okay. So we make it to the intake door without any of the real Reapers seeing us. What happens then?" Bellamy asked.
"I kill everyone, and you two slip inside. Limestone." Lincoln demanded and Bellamy handed it to him.
"Only I go inside. Taya's just here to help." Bellamy corrected and Taya rolled her eyes at his words. It wouldn't hurt to let him think that that was going to be the end of her involvement.
Lincoln put the limestone on and stood up.
"Let's go. We have a lot of ground to cover before dark." Lincoln said and they set off again.
"I need to know what happens after the intake door." Bellamy asked hesitantly, not sure what Lincoln was and wasn't comfortable sharing.
"They remove your clothes. Blast you with boiling water, then douse you with something that burns even worse. And then we were sorted. The others were tagged "harvest." I was tagged "Cerberus," turned into a Reaper." Lincoln explained and now Taya was considering maybe not doing it.
"Cerberus. Three headed dog that guards the underworld. My mom read mythology to us all the time. Octavia loved it. You're good for her. You made her strong." Bellamy said.
"She was already strong." Lincoln disagreed.
"Hey, I need to ask you something." Bellamy said as he stopped, causing Taya and Lincoln to stop as well. "You protected my sister before you even knew her. Why?"
"When I was a boy I saw a ship fall from the sky. Like Raven's. The man inside was hurt, his body broken. I couldn't get him out." Lincoln explained.
"Suicide by Earth. I heard stories growing up, never thought they'd be true." Taya spoke up, remembering such stories.
"I brought him food, water. I didn't even speak the enemy's language yet. So I couldn't understand him but I wanted to. So on the third day, I told my father. He made me kill him. The worlds been trying to the me into a monster for as long as I can remember. Let's keep moving." Lincoln said, hurrying away.
"Wait. The parking garage where we found you; it's north, that way." Bellamy pointed.
"There's a mine entrance closer to where the Reapers hand us over. We go into the underworld when we have to. Not before." Lincoln said gravely, taking off again. Bellamy sighed and took Taya's hand as the two hurried after him.

"The mountain has many eyes between here and the tunnels. From now on, details must be exact." Lincoln said, slowing to a stop.
"What if we run into real Reapers?" Taya asked. "Will the recognize you? Do they know you've disappeared?"
"All they see is the Red. Once you've taken it, nothing else matters. Just how you'll get more." Lincoln shook his head, haunted by the memories.
"How much do you remember from when you were on it?" Bellamy asked and Taya winced inwardly, noticing how Lincoln did not want to talk about it.
"Everything. Turn around, both of you." Lincoln said and they did so. Lincoln then tie them to a stick.
